
St. Cloud State Baseball’s Paul Steffensen Earns NSIC Elite 18 Award

Steffensen holds a 4.00 GPA as a psychology major
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – St. Cloud State Baseball senior Paul Steffensen (Kenai, Ala.) earned the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Elite 18 Award for baseball as he was presented the award on Wednesday ahead of the team's opening round matchup against Sioux Falls.
Steffensen is a senior majoring in psychology and holds a 4.00 grade point average. The Kenai, Ala., started 47 games for the Huskies and held a .281 batting average with 50 hits, 12 doubles, five home runs, 35 runs scored and 43 RBIs. He was also a perfect 16-for-16 in stolen base attempts. The 43 RBIs ranked eighth best in the NSIC this season.
As part of the NSIC 25th Anniversary celebration during the 2016-17 academic year, the NSIC Elite 18 Award was instituted to recognize the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the NSIC Championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The NSIC Elite 18 award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NSIC's 18 Championships.
