SCSU Baseball Summer 2022 Pro Update

Four Huskies continue their baseball careers at the professional level
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Four former St. Cloud State Baseball student-athletes are continuing their athletic careers with great success, making their mark in the ranks of professional baseball. Below is an update on each Huskies' 2022 season.
Matt Osterberg, who pitched for the Huskies from 2018-21, is currently playing for the Clearwater Threshers (the Single-A Affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies). This season, Osterberg has made 16 appearance and started 11 games with a 4.05 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 46.2 innings pitched. Osterberg started his professional career in 2021 with the Thrashers where he was 2-1 with 24 strikeouts and a 1.74 ERA in 20.2 innings pitched.
Najee Gaskins, who competed for the Huskies for one season in 2019, is currently playing for the Eugene Emeralds (High-A Affiliate of the San Francisco Giants). A 20th round draftee of the Giants in 2019, Gaskins is currently batting .271 as an outfielder for the Emeralds. Thus far in the 2022 season, Gaskins has posted 51 hits, three doubles, seven RBI, seven stolen bases, and 28 runs in 188 at-bats.
Caleb Marquez, who played one season of baseball for the Huskies in 2021, is playing with the Pioneer League's Rocky Mountain Vibes. Marquez is a 39th round draftee of the Milwaukee Brewers, where he played two seasons, 2018-2019, of short-season Arizona League Rookie Ball in the Brewers organization. He then played one season for the Huskies and is now with the Rocky Mountain Vibes. In 2022, Marquez is batting .275 with six doubles, 10 RBI, and 11 runs in 69 at-bats.
Nick Anderson, who pitched for the Huskies from 2009-11, is under contract with the Tampa Bay Rays. This season Anderson has not been able to play, due to undergoing right elbow surgery in October 2021 and is still recovering. Prior to this season, Anderson has seen great success with the Rays, even being called their most effective relief pitcher. During the 2021 season, Anderson had an ERA of 4.50 in 6 IP. During these innings he had one strikeout, allowed three runs and three earned runs.
