
St. Cloud State Swim & Dive Opens with Intersquad and Alumni Meets this Weekend

The Huskies will compete in intersquad meets on Thursday and Friday, alumni meet on Saturday
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The St. Cloud State Swim & Dive team will return to action for the first time in the 2022-23 campaign this weekend, as the Huskies will kick off their season with the Red vs. Black Intersquad meet at the Halenbeck Hall Aquatic Center. The team will host intersquad meets on Thursday (Sept. 22) and Friday (Sept. 23), and an alumni meet on Saturday (Sept. 24).
Intersquad events will start at 6:00 p.m. CT each day. The red team will swim in lanes 2, 4, and 6, while the black team will swim in lanes 1, 3, and 5. Scoring will be 9, 4, 3, 2, 1 for individual events and relays will be scored 11, 4, 2 based on finish.
On Saturday, the Swim & Dive team will host their annual Alumni Meet. The Huskies will be welcoming back their alumni to compete against one another, alongside current swimmers and divers. Registration will begin at 2:30 p.m. CT, with the meet scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. CT. Following the Alumni Meet, there will be a social held at Howie's Sports Bar and Grill beginning at 7:00 p.m.
The Huskies had a stellar season last year. The women's team placed second at the NSIC Championships and the men's team placed fourth at the GLIAC Championships. The team also sent 15 athletes to the NCAA Championships. Multiple Huskies earned All-American status during NCAA's, including Raf Hendriks, Abe Townley, and Madison Brinkman. During the season, the Huskies also earned a slew of team records.

Top Huskies from Last Season
- Brinkman became national champion in 3-meter diving and placed fourth in 1-meter diving. Brinkman was also voted NCAA Division II Diver of the Year.
- Ruthie Lucht captured team records in the 1000 and 1650 freestyle, with times of 10:23.35 in the 1000 freestyle and 17:23.92 in the 1650 freestyle.
- Kara Cowell earned the team record in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:02.61.
- The relay team of Marena Kouba, Cowell, Anna Reschko, and Lexie Burroughs earned the school record in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:41.82.
- Raf Hendriks earned team records in the 100 and 200 backstroke, posting times of 47.68 in the 100 backstroke and 1:43.38 in the 200 backstroke.
- Abe Townley lowered his own record in the 50 freestyle, with a time of 19.49.
- The relay team of Townley, Hendriks, Garrett Alleven, and TJ Van Stein earned the 200 freestyle relay record with a time of 1:20.65.
- The team of Hendriks, Jayden Porter, Townley, and Van Stein broke the 200 medley relay recording with a time of 1:28.15.
