
St. Cloud State Women’s Soccer Overpowers Sioux Falls, Sets Program Record for Best 15-Game Start

SCSU is 12-2-1 through 15 games, current unbeaten streak of nine games ties program-best
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Soccer (12-2-1, 9-1-1 NSIC) beat Sioux Falls (3-8-2, 3-5-2 NSIC) 3-1, on Friday night at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud, Minn. SCSU has won six consecutive games and is unbeaten in its last nine contests which ties the program record (Sept. 24, 1995-Oct. 21, 1995 and Oct. 9, 2011-Nov. 4, 2011).
Fifth-year defender Kira Sosinske (Savage, Minn.) put the Huskies up 1-0 on a set piece goal just eight minutes into the first half. Three minutes later, junior forward Krysten Schuster (Beamsville, Ontario) extended the Huskies lead to 2-0 scoring of a cross that came from sophomore midfielder Brooke Quam (Lakeville, Minn.). In the second half, Quam recorded her second assist of the day when sent a through ball into the penalty box to freshman forward Linsey Trapino (Verona, Wis.) who scored to give SCSU a 3-0 lead. Sioux Falls would get one goal back, scoring in the final 15 seconds of the game, bringing the final score to 3-1.
The Huskies continue to sit alone atop of the NSIC standings with 28 points, three clear of second place Minnesota State-Mankato and seven points clear of third place Bemidji State.

- With the win, St. Cloud State improves to 10-1-2 all-time against Sioux Falls. SCSU has now won six straight matches against the Cougars.
- The Huskies led the game in shots (19-7), shots on goal (13-4) and corner kicks (3-0). USF led the game in saves (10-3).
- Sosinske scored her first career goal.
- Schuster scored her second goal of the season and third of her collegiate career. Both of her goals this season have been game-winners. She set career single game highs in shots (nine) and shots on goal (seven).
- Trapino scored her sixth goal of the season. She continues to lead the team in goals, points (14) and game-winning goals (four) this season.
- Quam earned her fourth and fifth assists of the season. She is now tied with sophomore midfielder Ellie Primerano (Saint Joseph, Mich.) for the team lead in assists this season. She is also tied with redshirt junior midfielder Gracie Parsons (Omaha, Neb.) and Primerano for second on the team in points (nine).
- Orham earned her first career win in her second career start. She set a career high in minutes played (90).
