Huskies outshoot Mustangs, remain atop NSIC standings
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Soccer (12-3-1, 9-2-1 NSIC) dropped a highly contested close contest to Southwest Minnesota State (4-9-1, 4-6-1 NSIC), 1-0, on Sunday afternoon at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud, Minn. The Huskies controlled possession and outshot the Mustangs but allowed a goal in the 79th minute that ended up being the difference maker.
Prior to the game, the Huskies honored two seniors for Senior Day, recognizing fifth-year forward Jenna Dominguez (Geneva, Ill.) and fifth-year defender Kira Sosinske (Savage, Minn.).
TURNING POINT
In the 79th minute, SMSU's Brooke Wetterstrom played a pass up the right side of the field for Sydney Johnson, who found herself all alone on the sideline. Her shot from around 30 yards out was able to get over SCSU's goalkeeper for the only score of the game.

- Freshman goalkeeper Jaylee Strickland (Columbus, Ohio) made five saves in the game.
- Defenders Ella Clow, Grace Olson, Ana Spaine, Rheana Zerna played all 90 minutes in the game.
- With the loss, St. Cloud State is now 15-10-4 all-time against Southwest Minnesota State.
- The Huskies recorded 23 shots and nine shots on goal, comparted to nine shots and seven shots on goal for the Mustangs.
- SCSU held possession for 54 percent of the game, with 73 percent of their possession coming in the attacking half of the field.
- The Huskies had seven corner kicks in the game.
- SCSU's unbeaten streak ends at nine, which matches a program record, the third time the Huskies have reached that mark after also doing so in 1995 and 2011.
- St. Cloud State remains in first place in the NSIC standings with 28 points, three points ahead of Minnesota State (25) and seven points ahead of Bemidji State (21).
