
St. Cloud State Women’s Soccer Plays to Draw with Winona State

Hawkey scores fourth goal of the season, Huskies can clinch conference title with win in regular season finale
WINONA, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Soccer (12-3-2, 9-2-2 NSIC) played to a 1-1 draw against Winona State (2-7-7, 1-6-6 NSIC) on Sunday afternoon in Winona. Junior forward Ariel Hawkey (Graham, Wis.) scored the lone goal for the Huskies, while the Warriors scored in the in the 40th minute to force the draw.
TURNING POINT
Hawkey scored in the 27th minute of the first half, as she hammered home a rebound off a shot from sophomore forward Ellie Primerano (Saint Joseph, Mich.) to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead. The goal was the fourth of the season for the junior forward, while Primerano recorded her sixth assist of the campaign.
Just 13 minutes later, Winona State was able to equalize the score with a goal from Quinn Williams, tying the score, 1-1. The two teams were held at bay in the second half, despite the Huskies recording seven shots and creating several scoring chances in the final 45 minutes of the game.
