Hawkey scores fourth goal of the season, Huskies can clinch conference title with win in regular season finale

WINONA, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Soccer (12-3-2, 9-2-2 NSIC) played to a 1-1 draw against Winona State (2-7-7, 1-6-6 NSIC) on Sunday afternoon in Winona. Junior forward Ariel Hawkey (Graham, Wis.) scored the lone goal for the Huskies, while the Warriors scored in the in the 40^th minute to force the draw.

TURNING POINT

Hawkey scored in the 27^th minute of the first half, as she hammered home a rebound off a shot from sophomore forward Ellie Primerano (Saint Joseph, Mich.) to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead. The goal was the fourth of the season for the junior forward, while Primerano recorded her sixth assist of the campaign.

Just 13 minutes later, Winona State was able to equalize the score with a goal from Quinn Williams, tying the score, 1-1. The two teams were held at bay in the second half, despite the Huskies recording seven shots and creating several scoring chances in the final 45 minutes of the game.

Freshman goalkeeper Jaylee Strickland (Columbus, Ohio) made three saves in the game.
Primerano recorded an assist in the game on Hawkey's goal.

NOTES

With the draw, St. Cloud State is now 7-20-3 all-time against Winona State.
The Huskies recorded 11 shots and four shots on goal, while the Warriors managed five shots and four shots on goal.
Hawkey now has four goals and nine points in her junior campaign, as she ranks second on the team in goals, behind only Linsey Trapino's six goals.
Primerano has recorded six assists on the season and is tied for the conference lead in assists with Minnesota Duluth's Jacqueline Jares.
SCSU held possession for 63 percent of the game, with 74 percent of their possession coming in the attacking half of the field.
The Huskies had seven corner kicks in the game.
With one game remaining, St. Cloud State sits in second place in the NSIC standings with 29 points, two points behind of Minnesota State (31), who finished their regular season on Sunday.
