Trapino scores set piece goal in 1-0 win over Minot State
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Soccer (8-2-1, 6-1-1 NSIC) earned a 1-0 victory over Minot State (4-5-1, 1-4-1 NSIC) on Friday Night in St. Cloud after scoring a goal late in the second half. Freshman forward Linsey Trapino (Verona, Wis.) gave the Huskies their lone goal on a free kick in the 76th minute. With the win, the Huskies earned their first victory over Minot State since 2019.
TURNING POINT
With 14 minutes left in the match, sophomore midfielder Brooke Quam (Lakeville, Minn.) earned a free kick after being fouled a few yards outside the penalty area on the right side of the field. Trapino took the free kick and nailed a left-footed shot into the upper left part of the net, over the outstretched arms of the Minot State goalkeeper.

- Freshman goalkeeper Jaylee Strickland (Columbus, Ohio) earned the shutout.
- Quam and freshman defender Grace Olson (West Des Moines, Iowa) each recorded two shots and one shot on goal.
- With the win, St. Cloud State improves to 4-9-0 all-time against Minot State. The Huskies snapped a two-game losing streak against Minot State. SCSU's last win over the Beavers came on Nov. 1, 2019, a 2-0 win in Minot.
- Trapino scored her third goal of the season. It was her second game-winning goal of the season. She is now tied with junior forward Ariel Hawkey (Graham, Wash.) for the team lead in goals scored.
- Strickland recorded her eighth win and fifth shutout of the season.
