Beavers score twice in second half to beat the Huskies, 2-0

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Soccer (14-4-2, 10-2-2 NSIC) dropped a 2-0 result to Bemidji State (11-3-6, 7-3-4 NSIC) in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Tournament semifinals on Friday afternoon at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud. The Beavers, the No. 4 seed in the tournament, scored goals in the 52^nd and 68^th minutes to clinch a trip to the conference championship game.

The Huskies controlled the pace of the game in the first half, recording seven shots with numerous scoring attempts, but was unable to find the back of the net to grab a lead.

In the second half, Bemidji State was able to break through in the 52^nd minute, as Sylve Waters played a ball in the box that hit off the post and found the foot of Katrina Barthelt, who kicked the ball to the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. Just 16 minutes later, the Beavers scored again as Maria Stocke made the score 2-0.

Redshirt junior midfielder Gracie Parsons (Omaha, Neb.) and freshman defender Grace Olson (West Des Moines, Iowa) led the Huskies with two shots on goal each.
Freshman goalkeeper Jaylee Strickland (Columbus, Ohio) made two saves in the game.

NOTES

With the loss, St. Cloud State is now 6-12-3 all-time against Bemidji State.
Friday's NSIC semifinal appearance was its fourth in program history.
SCSU hosted the NSIC semifinals and championship game for the first time in program history.

UP NEXT

With the loss, St. Cloud State will now await its NCAA Tournament fate as the NCAA Selection Show will be held Monday, Nov. 13 at 5:30 p.m. CT at NCAA.com. The first and second round matches of the regional tournament will take place on campus Nov. 16-19.
