
Women’s Hockey Team Set for Series Against St. Thomas

Huskies and Tommies will play home-and-home beginning Friday
ST. CLOUD, MINN. – No. 10 St. Cloud State (9-4-0, 4-3-0 WCHA) is set for a home-and-home series against the University of St. Thomas (5-8-0, 0-8-8 WCHA) this Friday and Saturday. The Huskies will be on the road for an evening game at St. Thomas Ice Arena on Friday, with puck drop set for 6:00 p.m. CT. On Saturday, the Huskies will be back at home at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center for an afternoon game as puck drop Is set for 1:00 p.m.
HISTORY
St. Cloud State has the 6-2-1 advantage over St. Thomas in 9 total meetings. The Huskies are 3-1-1 when playing at the Herb Brooks Nationa Hockey Center and 3-1-0 when playing at the St. Thomas Ice Arena. In the last five meetings, the Huskies are 5-0-0 and are 6-2-1 in the last ten meetings.
SAURIOL STORY
Freshman forward Alice Sauriol has played a big part in the Huskies' success this season. In 13 games, Sauriol tallied 3 goals and 5 assists for 8 total points while putting up 14 shots. Sauriol has skated to a plus-seven which is the third-best on the team. Last series against the Badgers, Sauriol scored on both Friday and Saturday's contests which is the first time in her career that she has scored in back-to-back games.
FACEOFF CIRCLE SUCCESS
Emma Gentry and Taylor Lind lead the charge regarding success in the faceoff dot. Against Wisconsin, Gentry went 21 for 32 in the circle for 66 percent and improves to a 46 percent on the season. Lind went 16 for 31 for a 52 percent and improves to 60 percent on the season.

The Huskies enter week eight ranked No. 10 in the country by USA Hockey/The Rink Live and by the USCHO. St. Cloud State is one of five WCHA programs featured in week six's rankings. The Huskies entered both the USCHO and USA Today National Polls in the first week of December last season, placing the team in the national rankings for the first time since 2009 and 2008 respectively. After debuting at No. 14 in both polls, SCSU proceeded to remain ranked in 10 of the next 11 weeks to close the year, closing the season ranked for the first time in program history at No. 12 by the USCHO and No. 13 by USA Today. Prior to 2022-23, SCSU had only appeared in the USA Today rankings five times while appearing in just six USCHO polls – last season, the Huskies were ranked 12 and 11 times respectively.
