No. 10 St. Cloud State Takes Down No. 1 Ohio State

Ahola Records 46 Saves
COLUMBUS, OHIO. – The St. Cloud State women's hockey team (12-4-0, 7-3-0 WCHA) took down top-ranked Ohio State (13-2-0, 10-1-0 WCHA) on Friday night in game one of the two-game series at the Ohio State University Ice Rink. CC Bowlby would score the game-tying goal before Freshman Greta Henderson would score her first collegiate goal to put the Huskies up 2-1.
OUT SHOT BUT NOT OUT
Ohio State would come out strong, tallying 22 shots on goal in just the first period. Goaltender Sanni Ahola stood tall in net, stopping 21 of 22 shots faced in the opening 20 minutes of play. Following the first period and the game's first goal, Ahola remained incredible in net, not allowing another Ohio State goal in the middle or final frame. Ahola would go on to make 25 additional saves for a whopping total of 46 saves. The last time a Husky made 45 or more saves was none other than Sanni Ahola and It was again against Ohio State on January 21, 2023.
SPECIAL TEAMS
The Huskies' special teams were dominant on both ends of the ice as the team scored two power play goals and held the Buckeyes scoreless on their three attempts. CC Bowlby would score her sixth goal of the season just six seconds into the Huskies' first power play opportunity. Greta Henderson lit the lamp on the powerplay for the first time in her collegiate career with under five minutes to go in the middle frame.
