St. Cloud State Men’s Basketball Picks Up Win in First NSIC Tilt

Huskies continue strong start, hold off Minnesota Crookston at home, 64-60
ST. CLOUD, MINN. – St. Cloud State Men's Basketball (4-1, 1-0 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) picked up its second consecutive win on Friday night at Halenbeck Hall in St. Cloud, taking down Minnesota Crookston (3-4, 0-2 NSIC), 64-60 in the Huskies first conference game of the season.
Minnesota Crookston took their first lead of the game with one second left in the first half after trailing by as much as eight points on five different occasions. SCSU would use a strong second half performance to propel itself to its second straight victory.

The Huskies return to Halenbeck Hall tomorrow afternoon (Sunday, Dec. 2) to face off against Minot State. The game is set to tip-off at 3:30 p.m. CT. TOP HUSKIES
- Freshman Jamiir Allen (Milwaukee, Wis.) led the Huskies with 12 points off the bench. He also recorded three rebounds and two steals.
- Freshman Lucas Morgan (Sydney, Australia) did a little but of everything for the Huskies. He grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds, scored nine points, and tallies three steals and two blocks.
- Graduate student Luke Taylor (Germantown, Wis.) scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds.
- Freshman Anish Ramlall (Rosemount, Minn.) had a balanced game with eight points, five rebounds and four assists.
- With the win, the Huskies move to 39-4 all-time against Minnesota Crookston.
- SCSU led the game in free-throw percentage (64.7%-62.5%), field goals (22-21), three pointers (9-8), free throws (11-10), total rebounds (13-29—42 – 8-28—36), assists (15-12), second chance points (10-7) and bench points (22-11).
- UMC led the game in field goal percentage (38.2%-37.3%), three-point percentage (34.8%-32.1%), steals (7-6), blocks (6-3), points off turnovers (13-9), points in the paint (22-20) and fast break points (6-5)
- Team tied its season-highs in three pointers made (nine), set a new season-highs in three-point attempts (28), assists (15) and blocks (three).
- Allen set new career-highs in points (12), three pointers made (two), three pointers attempted (four), free throws made (four), free throws attempted (six) and tied his career high with two steals. He has recorded two steals in four of the five Huskies games.
- Morgan recorded career-highs in minutes (29), free throws made (five), free throws attempted (eight) and blocks (two). He tied career-highs in rebounds (11) and steals (three). He has grabbed double-digit rebounds in three of the Huskies five games and in two consecutive games. He has grabbed three steals in back-to-back games.
- Taylor scored 10+ points for the 28th time as a Husky and the fourth time this season. He set season highs in minutes played (23), rebounds (five) and assists (two). He has scored 10 points in three straight games.
- Ramlall recorded new career-highs in rebounds (five) and assists (four).
- Senior Joe Mutimer (Melbourne, Australia) tied season-highs in assists (five), field goals attempted (five), three pointers made (one) and three pointers attempted (three).
- Freshman Vance Peiffer (Waukee, Wis.) scored double-digit points (10) for the first time in his career and made his first three pointer as a Husky. He also set career-highs in minutes (28), field goals made (four) and field goals attempted (seven).
- Sophomore Andre Renta (Hudson, Wis.) had a breakout game. He set new season-highs in minutes (15), field goals made (two), field goals attempted (four), three pointers made (one), three pointers attempted (three), rebounds (two), assists (one) and blocks (one). He has recorded a block in two consecutive games.
- Graduate student Craig Steele (Portage, Wis.) made his first three pointer as a Husky.
