St. Cloud State Men’s Basketball Falls to Minot State

Beavers use big second half to down SCSU, 85-70
ST. CLOUD, MINN. – St. Cloud State Men's Basketball (4-2, 1-1 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) dropped its weekend finale against Minot State, 85-70, on Saturday at Halenbeck Hall in St. Cloud. The Beavers (5-2, 2-1 NSIC) used a 49-point second half to run away with the game after only leading SCSU by one point at halftime.

The Huskies hit the road for their first NSIC road weekend. They will play Northern State on Friday. Dec. 8 in Aberdeen S.D. and MSU Moorhead on Saturday, Dec. 9 in Moorhead, Minn. TOP HUSKIES
- Freshman Anish Ramlall (Rosemount, Minn.) scored a team-high 15 points on 4-of-8 from the field, 3-of-6 from beyond the arc and 4-of-5 from the free throw line. He also had two steals.
- Graduate student Luke Taylor (Germantown, Wis.) scored 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting and grabbed five rebounds.
- Freshman Lucas Morgan (Sydney, Australia) scored 14 points and was very efficient going 5-of-11 from the field, 1-of-2 from three and 3-of-3 from the line.
- Sophomore Andre Renta (Hudson, Wis.) tallied eight points, four assists and four rebounds.
- The Huskies move to 18-7 all-time against Minot State after the loss.
- SCSU led the game in free-throw percentage (72.2%-64.3%).
- MISU led the game in field goal percentage (50.0%-42.1%), three-point percentage (57.9%-33.3%), field goals (28-24), three pointers (11-9), free throws (18-13), assists (12-11), blocks (4-2), second chance points (14-12) fast break points (12-8), and bench points (23-17).
- The teams tied steals (7-7)
- Ramlall has scored 14+ points in 4-of-6 games this year. He tied career-highs in three pointers attempted (six) and steals (two).
- Taylor scored 10+ points for the 29th time as a Husky and the fifth time this season. He set season highs in points (13), minutes played (25), field goals made (six) and rebounds (five).
- Morgan played a career-high 31 minutes.
- Renta had another breakout game. He set new season-highs in points (eight), minutes (27), field goals made (two), field goals attempted (five), three pointers made (two), three pointers attempted (three), free throws made (two), free rebounds (four), assists (four) and blocks (one). He has recorded a block in two consecutive games.
- Senior Joe Mutimer (Melbourne, Australia) set season-highs in minutes (29), field goal attempts (5), three pointers made (1), three pointers attempted (four).
- Freshman forward Wyatt Hawks (White Bear Lake) set new career-highs in free throws attempted (three), rebounds and assists one.
- Junior Dom Aguilar (Fergus Falls, Minn.) made his season debut playing three minutes. He grabbed three rebounds.
