Six Huskies score, four Huskies record two-point games
BEMIDJI, Minn. – No. 14 St. Cloud State Men's Hockey (10-5-2, 7-0-1 NCHC) jumped out to quick 3-0 first period lead and never looked back, beating Bemidji State (8-11-0, 7-5-0 CCHA), 6-1, on Friday night at the Sanford Center in Bemidji, Minn. The scoring was well balanced, as six different Huskies scored while four recorded two points and 11 found the scoresheet in the victory. The six goals matched a season-best for the Huskies, a mark it has now reached three times this season.
Senior forward Veeti Miettinen (Espoo, Finland), sophomore forward Adam Ingram (West St. Paul, Manitoba), sophomore defenseman Cooper Wylie (Stillwater, Minn.) and fifth-year defenseman Dylan Anhorn (Calgary, Alberta) all scored a goal and an assist for two points to lead the offense. Senior goaltender Dominic Basse (Alexandria, Va.) made 21 saves on 22 shots attempts for a .955 save percentage to earn the victory and improve to 10-5-1.
Miettinen didn't take long to get the Huskies scoring started, as the puck found his stick near the Huskies defensive blue line following a blocked shot, causing a 2-on-1 breakaway the other way. The Husky senior then did what he does best as he drew the middle defenseman to the middle of the ice before firing a wrist shot to the short side over the shoulder of the Beaver goaltender to put SCSU up 1-0 just 56 seconds into the game. Wylie and redshirt sophomore forward Ryan Rosborough (Mt. Brydges, Ontario) would also score later on in the first period to give the Huskies a 3-0 lead after the first period.
Ingram added his goal in the second period, scoring a power play goal on a tic-tac play from Anhorn to Miettinen to Ingram on the back side to beat the goalie for the score. Then, in the third period, a pair of defensemen found the back of the net when junior Jack Peart (Grand Rapids, Minn.) and Anhorn added goals five and six, respectively, for the Huskies to close the scoring.
