
No. 8 St. Cloud State Women’s Hockey Hosts No. 3 Minnesota on Tuesday

ST. CLOUD, MINN. – No. 8 St. Cloud State (12-5-0, 7-4-0 WCHA) will host No. 2 Minnesota (13-2-0, 9-2-0 WCHA) on Tuesday evening at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
SERIES HISTORY
The Huskies and the Gophers have an in-state and conference rivalry going back many years. The Gophers have the 104-4-3 advantage going back 111 games. At home at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center, the Huskies have a 3-43-1 record when going up against Minnesota. Last time the two teams met was in October as the Gophers walked away with their third straight win over St. Cloud State by a score of 2-1.
Last season, the Huskies were able to defeat the Gophers by a score of 4-1 when the teams took part in the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Face-off Classic in Andover, Minn. It was the first time the team beat a No. 1 ranked team since 2007 and the first time the Huskies took down the Gophers since 20010. Sanni Ahola got the nod in net, stopping 34 shots the Gophers put on goal.

The Huskies are coming off of a huge weekend against No. 1 Ohio State. On Friday, the team took down the top-ranked team by a score of 2-1. Greta Henderson (Regina, Saskatchewan) scored her first collegiate goal to put the Huskies up 2-1. Prior to Henderson's goal, CC Bowlby (Edina, Minnesota) was able to find the back of the net to tie up the game. The Huskies went 2-for-3 on the power play on Friday evening and were able to kill off all three Ohio State power plays. Sanni Ahola (Helsinki, Finland) was incredible in net, stopping 46 of 47 shots faced.
