Huskies can’t hold off MSU Moorhead, falling 65-64
MOORHEAD, MINN. – St. Cloud State Men's Basketball (4-4 overall, 1-3 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) couldn't hold on in its weekend finale against MSU Moorhead, falling 65-64 Saturday afternoon at Nemzek Fieldhouse in Moorhead. SCSU outscored the Dragons (10-0 overall, 4-0 NSIC) 38-33 in the second half, but couldn't complete its comeback.

The Huskies will travel to Bismarck, N.D. to play Mary in a midweek battle on Tuesday. The game is set to tip-off at 4:00 p.m. CT at the McDowell Activity Center. - Senior Joe Mutimer (Melbourne, Australia) scored a game-high 17 points on 8-of-10 from the field including 1-of-1 from beyond the three-point line.
- Graduate student Luke Taylor (Germantown, Wis.) scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, notching a double-double.
- Senior Matt Willert (Buffalo, Minn.) scored 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field and connected on 3-of-4 three pointers.
- The Huskies move to 85-54 all-time against MSU Moorhead after the loss.
- SCSU led the game in field goal percentage (47.5%-37.9%), three-point percentage (33.3%-26.1%), field goals (28-22), three pointers (7-6), total rebounds (5-32—37 – 5-27—32), blocks (3-2), points in the paint (40-26) and bench points (25-14).
- MSUM led the game in free-throw percentage (93.8%-50.0%), free throws (15-1), assists (11-7), steals (4-3), points off turnovers (10-6), second chance points (9-6) and fast break points (2-1).
- Mutimer set season-highs in points (17) and field goals attempted (10). He tied his career high with eight field goals made. He has recorded 2+ assists in the last five games.
- Taylor recorded his third career double-double. He scored 10+ points for the 31st time as a Husky and the seventh time this season (sixth game in a row). He tied his career-high grabbing 10 rebounds. He set season highs in blocks (two) and steals (one – tie).
- Willert tied season-highs by making six field goals and three three-pointers. He has made 3+ three-pointers three times this season including the last two in a row.
- Sophomore Andre Renta (Husdon, Wis.) recorded his first steal of the season.
- Freshman Lucas Morgan (Sydney, Australia) recorded eight points and six rebounds. He played a career-high 32 minutes and dished out a new career-high three assists.
- Freshman Wyatt Hawks (White Bear Lake, Minn.) played a career-high 18 minutes and grabbed a career-high eight rebounds. He also tied career-highs with one steal and one block.
- Freshman Jamiir Allen (Milwaukee, Wis.) scored eight points on 3-of-6 from the field and 2-of-4 from three tying his career-highs in three pointers made (two) and three pointers attempted (four).
