St. Cloud State Women's Basketball Sinks UMary 57-45

Huskies in the hunt for the two seed in the north
ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The St. Cloud State women's basketball team went to work to rebound back against UMary Saturday evening at Halenbeck Hall. The Huskies downed UMary 57-45 shooting .409 from the field and .538 from behind the arc while the defense held UMary to just .283 from the field. Two athletes scored in the double-digits with one putting up a career high.
GAME SUMMARY
It was a complete 180 from Friday to Saturday as the Huskies set the pace early in the first several minutes of the opening period. St. Cloud would go up 9-4 after nailing three three-points. With 2:40 left in the first, SCSU led 13-7 until UMary closed with an 8-3 run to make it 16-15 with the Huskies leading by one. Kelsey Peschel was hot from behind the arc going 3-4 in the first ten minutes. The Huskies offense kicked it into drive during the second putting up 16 points while the defense held the Marauders to just eight points. The half would close with Jada Eggebrecht sinking a second chance jump shot just outside the paint as the buzzer went off to put the Huskies up 32-23 over UMary. K. Peschel led the first half with 16.
The opening three minutes of the third would be scoreless until Dru Henning knocked down a free throw to put the Huskies up ten. St. Cloud would stay steady and end the period up 42-34 despite UMary outscoring SCSU 11-10. Once again, the fourth period was scoreless in the first three minutes. An 8-4 run by the Marauders cut the lead to 47-42 with 3:31 left until the Huskies kicked it into drive to close out the game 57-45 over UMary.

After defeating UMary this evening, the Huskies moved to 16-8 overall, 13-7 in conference play holding them in second place in the north division. With one more win, St. Cloud will secure the number two spot and a bye to the NSIC/Sanford Health Tournament.

The Huskies will close the regular season with a home-and-home matchup. On Thursday, Feb. 16, St. Cloud will head up to Bemidji State to take on the Beavers before returning home Saturday, Feb. 18 to close with Minnesota Crookston.

- Kelsey Peschel had quite the night as the fifth-year senior put up a career high 17 points going 5-8 from the field, 4-5 from behind the arc, and 3-4 from the line. Additionally, Peschel had seven rebounds, four assists, one steal, and one block
- Dru Henning put up 11 points with eight rebounds, two assists, and one steal
- Jada Eggebrecht closed with nine points, four rebounds, and one assist
