St. Cloud State Women's Basketball Unable to Push Past BSU in Overtime

Huskies fall 81-77 in overtime to Bemidji State
BEMIDJI, Minn. - The St. Cloud State women's basketball team fell in overtime to a tough Bemidji State team at the BSU Gymnasium Thursday evening. The Beavers shot .647 from behind the three-point line and got the better of the Huskies as BSU capitalized on open shots. Despite tying the game up to send it into overtime, the Huskies could just not sneak past the Beavers as they fell 81-77 in the extra five minutes. Two athletes scored in the double-digits with one putting up a career high.
GAME SUMMARY
St. Cloud opened the game shooting .500 from the field leading Bemidji State 20-14 after the first ten minutes. In the second, the Huskie led by seven, 23-16, two minutes in until BSU went on a 7-0 run to take over the lead 26-25. The Beavers would then go up by four until the Huskies went up by one, 33-22, with 33 seconds left. BSU tied it up at 33 to end the half. Bemidji State outscored St. Cloud 19-13 in the second.
Back on the court for the third, St. Cloud went on an 8-0 run to go up 42-35 three minutes in. Jada Eggebrecht put up seven of the eight points in that run. With 3:01 left of the third, SCSU would hold a nine-point, 51-42, lead after Makenna Vanzant drove into the lane to lay it in. A 10-2 run by BSU stalled the Huskies as the period ended in a one-point, 53-52, game in favor of St. Cloud. The Huskies would go back up by five, 60-55, with 5:08 left in regulation. The Beavers found some momentum to push them ahead 64-62 with just over two minutes left. Dru Henning was sent to the line with 30 seconds left with the opportunity to take over the lead. The junior missed her first but sank her second to tie the game up at 67. Neither team was able to make a final play sending the game into overtime.
During overtime, Bemidji controlled the lead for the majority of the extra five with SCSU only jumping in front once. St. Cloud led 71-69 with 3:24 left until BSU hit a three on the other end to go up 72-71. With 26 seconds left and down four, Vanzant found Eggebrecht for three to make it a one-point, 78-77, game. Bemidji State would seal the game at the foul line with the Huskies falling 81-77 in overtime.

The Huskies will close the regular season hosting Minnesota Crookston at Halenbeck Hall. The game is set for a 5:00 p.m. tip-off.
TO THE PENTAGON
Despite falling to Bemidji State tonight, the Huskies are locked into the number two spot in the north division. Thanks to a UMary loss by Northern State, St. Cloud has earned a bye to the Pentagon for the NSIC/Sanford Health tournament in Sioux Falls, SD. The Huskies will play Sunday, Feb. 26 at 1:30 p.m. against the winner of the south's three seed vs the north's sixth seed game on Feb. 22.
