Cold shooting hurts St. Cloud State
Sioux Falls, S.D.- St. Cloud State Women's Basketball (15-14, 11-11 NSIC) were defeated 76-60 in the NSIC Quarterfinals against No. 11 Concordia-St. Paul Saturday afternoon. SCSU got off to a strong start in the game as a three-pointer by Alana Zarneke gave them a 7-2 lead. The Golden Bears responded with their own 7-2 run as the game would be tied at 9 points apiece. From that moment, CSP built up a double-digit lead with a 15-4 run as they now led 24-13 with 2:51 left in the quarter. The teams traded buckets in the final stretch of the frame before Ashley Schuelke made a buzzer beating three to give CSP a 29-15 lead. The momentum for Concordia maintained into the second quarter as they opened on an 8-2 run to push the lead up to 20 points. The Huskies ultimately went into halftime trailing 43-24. The second half saw similar results as SCSU trailed by 15+ the remainder of the game. The Huskies were unable to make a string of stops and scores to cut into the deficit as they shot 35% from the field and 25% from three while CSP shot 49.1% from the field and 45% from three. St. Cloud State's season would come to a close as they would be defeated 76-70.
