Eggebrecht and Kottke Combine for 50 Points in Huskies 79-72 Win Over Jamestown

SCSU outscores Jimmies 27-10 in third quarter
St. Cloud, MN. – St. Cloud State Women's Basketball (7-11, 4-9 NSIC) took down Jamestown 79-72 Friday evening at Halenbeck Hall. Jada Eggebrecht and Rachel Kottke combined for 50 points in the win.
The first five minutes of the game would be a slow start for both teams as each team knocked in two three to set the score at 6-6. Jamestown would slowly start to build up a lead of five points, but the Huskies stayed tight with timely makes. UJ ultimately led 21-16 at the end of the first after they finished a layup with three seconds remaining in the quarter. The second quarter saw similar results as the teams interlocked to a 18-18 tie in the second quarter. Six three pointers in the half by the Huskies were key in weathering the storm. St. Cloud State would go into halftime trailing 39-34.
After Jamestown shot 59% from the field in the first half, SCSU ramped up their defense in the third. The Huskies forced an early timeout as a steal in the backcourt by Alana Zarneke led to an and-one by Reagan Briggs as SCSU burst out with a 9-0 run. The run continued as Rachel Kottke cashed a three and then finished a layup as the Huskies now led 48-39. St. Cloud State continued to roll as an and-one floater by Jada Eggebrecht pushed the lead up to 14 points. The Huskies went into the fourth leading 61-49 as they outscored the Jimmies 27-10 in the third and held them to 30.8% from the field. St. Cloud State carried over their third quarter momentum as they built a lead as big as 17 points. Jamestown would make a late 10-0 run to get within striking distance. The Huskies would close the game out at the free throw line by making five of their final six attempts as they went on to win 79-72.

- Rachel Kottke stuffed the stat sheet with 21 points (6/9), five rebounds, three assists, and five steals. She also connected on three of her four three-point attempts. This was her second game scoring 20+ points this season.
- Jada Eggebrecht led the Huskies in scoring with 29 points on 9/17 shooting. Eggebrecht splashed four three and grabbed four rebounds while going 7/7 at the free throw line. This was her season high in scoring.
- Paige Lambe was the final Husky to score in double-figures as she tallied 13 points on 5/10 shooting. She also totaled five rebounds and four blocks. This was Lambe's eighth game scoring 10+ points this season.
- St. Cloud State is now 5-1 all-time against Jamestown.
