St. Cloud State Women’s Basketball Close Out Four-Game Homestand Against NSIC North Opponents

Huskies take on Jamestown and Northern State
St. Cloud, MN. – St. Cloud State Women's Basketball (6-11, 3-9 NSIC) close out their four-game homestand this weekend as they host a pair of NSIC North opponents. SCSU will host Jamestown on Friday, January 23 and then Northern State on Saturday, January 24. Friday's game is set for 5:30 p.m. while Saturday's game will tip-off at 2:00 p.m.

Second Quarter Surge Sparks Huskies 77-56 Win Over Bemidji State- January 16, 2026
The first quarter was a defensive battle as both teams shot sub 25% from the field. Bemidji State narrowly held an 11-9 lead after one. Moving into the second quarter, Abigail O'Reilly started the quarter with a bang as she muscled her way for an and-one as SCSU retook the lead after she converted the three-point play. After free throws by Ashley Sawicki, the Huskies forced a turnover which then led to a three-pointer by Jada Eggebrecht. Four free throws by SCSU grew the lead to 12-0 before a backdoor cut by Eggebrecht pushed it to 14 as BSU called a timeout. St. Cloud State continued to pour it on offensively, but the defense shined equally as bright as Bemidji State made their first field goal of the quarter at the 3:45 mark. SCSU ultimately outscored the Beavers 30-10 as they shot 58% to their 33% as they led 39-21 at the break.
Moving into the second half, the Huskies continued to hum offensively with 19 points in each quarter. SCSU comfortably led by 12+ points the rest of the way with their biggest lead being 22 points as they went on to 77-56. St. Cloud State put together a strong performance on both ends as they shot 45% from the field and 50% from three while holding the Beavers to 35% shooting with 19 turnovers.

Huskies Fall 74-71 in OT to Bulldogs- January 17, 2026
St. Cloud State got off to a strong start as three straight three-pointers led to an 11-2 burst to open the game. After a timeout by UMD, they responded with an 8-0 run to cut the deficit down to one. The teams battled the rest of the first as the Huskies held a 18-16 lead. The battle continued into the second quarter as UMD narrowly held a 29-28 lead with 4:54 until halftime. St. Cloud State produced a strong close to the half as Reagan Briggs knocked down a triple to cap off a 12-2 run. SCSU would go into halftime leading 40-31.
Coming out of halftime, the Huskies continued their momentum with a 9-0 run to open the third as they now led 49-31. The Huskies would lead by 10+ points the rest of the third, but the Bulldogs started to chip away with a 5-1 run to end the third. Four straight points by SCSU to start the fourth halted that momentum momentarily, but with new energy, UMD kept it rolling with a 16-4 run to cut the lead down to four. In need of a big bucket, Alana Zarneke cashed a huge three off an assist by Rachel Kottke with 3:50 remaining. UMD responded with a 9-0 run as a three gave them a 69-67 lead with 43 seconds left. Out of a timeout, Jada Eggebrecht drove down the lane and tied the game with a right-handed finish. The Huskies got a stop on the defensive end and secured the rebound while calling timeout with two seconds left. With a chance to win the game, SCSU went to Eggebrecht who freed herself on the baseline. Her jumpshot just missed as the game would go into overtime.
UMD put the first points on the board in OT as they finished a layup to lead 71-69 with 3:13 remaining. The Bulldogs ramped up their defense as a jumper by Eggebrecht gave the Huskies their first points of extra time with 44 seconds left. The Huskies again produced a timely defensive stop but turned the ball over with six seconds left. SCSU would foul as UMD left the door open with a split pair of free throws. Needing a three to tie, the Huskies would miss a corner three as they ultimately fell 74-71 to the Bulldogs.

After crossing 1,000 career points last season, senior Jada Eggebrecht continues to rise the career scoring leaderboard at St. Cloud State. With 231 points this season, Eggebrecht is up to 1,342 career points which puts her at 18th all-time. The Philips, Wis. native has also cashed 160 career three-pointers, good for eighth all-time. She is five threes away from passing Teri Watkins (1995-99) for seventh.

31 Points by O'Reilly Powers Huskies Past Wolves 75-72- December 14, 2024
After a back-and-forth start to the game, Northern State used a 7-0 run to take a 19-13 lead at the 2:13 mark of the first quarter. St. Cloud State would respond as Alana Zarneke knocked down a jumper and then cashed a three-pointer as the Huskies got back within one-point. The Wolves ultimately held a 23-20 lead at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter started off as a scoring barrage by Abigail O'Reilly as she scored the first eight points in the quarter for the Huskies. Jada Eggebrecht joined the party as she cashed a three to give St. Cloud State a 31-29 lead with 3:22 left in the half. The duo continued to thrive as they scored all 18 points in the quarter as SCSU led 38-31 going into halftime after holding NSU to 27% from the field in the second.
The third quarter continued the back-and-forth play that was present in the first quarter as the Huskies held a 48-42 lead halfway through the third. SCSU started to push their lead open as Rachel Kottke knocked down consecutive triples. O'Reilly would finish a layup assisted by Kottke as the Huskies would now lead by nine points with 2:43 remaining. St. Cloud State would head into the fourth quarter holding a nine-point lead and would lead 63-53 with 4:03 left in the game. Over the next three minutes, the Wolves went on a 10-0 run as they tied the game with 58 seconds remaining. On the ensuing offensive possession for SCSU, Alana Zarneke came up with a huge corner three to give the Huskies a 66-63 lead with 40 seconds left. The Wolves scored on their next possession and then fouled Alyssa Stamer with 23 seconds left. Stamer knocked down both of her attempts as St. Cloud State would now lead 68-65. The patented St. Cloud defense came up with a big stop as Rachel Kottke grabbed a big rebound and would be fouled. Kottke pushed the lead up to five with 18 seconds left after making both free throws. The Wolves would not go away as they finished a layup which would ultimately lead to two free throws for the Huskies. O'Reilly knocked down both attempts, but NSU made a three-pointer with nine seconds left to set the score at 72-70 with the Huskies leading. Kottke would get fouled and split her free throws to give St. Cloud State a three-point lead. From the opposite baseline, Northern finished a layup almost instantly as it was again a one-point game with four seconds left. Eggebrecht was fouled and step to the line where she pushed the lead back up to three-point after making both shots. Northern State was unable to get a shot off with three seconds remaining as St. Cloud State held on for a 75-72 victory against the Wolves.

The University of Jamestown Jimmies come into this game holding a 4-12 record with a 2-10 mark in the NSIC and have lost nine straight games. The two conference wins for UJ have come against Northern State and UMary. The Jimmies are coming off a 2024-25 season where they went 19-11 at the NAIA level. They would lose in the First Round of the NAIA Tournament. Coming into this season, Jamestown was projected to finish 15th in the NSIC.
