
St. Cloud State Women’s Soccer Moves to NSIC Play with Minnesota Duluth and Bemidji State

SCSU hosts UMD on Friday, travels to Bemidji State for Sunday match
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Soccer will open Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play this weekend, splitting its two games between home and the road. The Huskies begin by hosting Minnesota Duluth on Friday, Sept. 15 at 5:00 p.m. CT at Husky Stadium. Then, SCSU will head to Bemidji State on Sunday, Sept. 17 for a game which will start at 1:00 p.m. CT.

SERIES HISTORY
The Huskies will face off against the Bulldogs for the 40th time and the second time in three games after defeating the Bulldogs 2-0 on Sept. 8. St. Cloud State is 12-19-8 all-time against the Bulldogs and have won the last six consecutive matches against UMD dating back to Sept. 9, 2018. Against Bemidji State, the Huskies are 6-10-3 and 3-7-0 in Bemidji. SCSU's last win against the Beavers came on Nov. 13, 2019, a 1-0 win in Bemidji.
FAST START
With a 2-1 win over MSU Moorhead on Sept. 10, St. Cloud State improved to 3-1-0 on the season, marking its best four-game start to a season since 2013 when it reached the same mark. In addition to the win over the Dragons, the Huskies earned victories over Michigan Tech (1-0, Aug. 31) and Minnesota Duluth (2-0, Sept. 8).
The season-opening victory marked the 13th time in program history SCSU has opened its season with a victory and the first since a 3-0 win over Northern Michigan on Sept. 1 to open the 2017 season.
DOMINGUEZ NAMED NSIC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Fifth-year forward Jenna Dominguez (Geneva, Ill.) was named the NSIC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring both game-winning goals in SCSU's wins over Minnesota Duluth (2-0, Sept. 8) and MSU Moorhead (2-1, Sept. 10). Dominguez is the first Husky to be named conference player of the week this season, and this is her second career honor after being named Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 31, 2022, to close the 2022 season.
Domniguez's goal early in the second half of Friday's win over the Bulldogs came off an assist from sophomore forward Ellie Primerano (Saint Joseph, Mich.) and gave the Huskies a 1-0 lead. She found the net again in the 78th minute on Sunday, breaking a 1-1 tie and lifting SCSU to a win over the Dragons. She helped SCSU extend its winning-streak to six against UMD and improve to 28-0-2 against MSUM.
Dominguez leads the NSIC and ranks second in the NCAA in game-winning goals (two) and is one of 10 athletes in the NSIC to score 2+ goals in 2023. Among program career records, Dominguez moved to second in game-winning goals (10), eighth in scoring (44 points) and ninth in goals (17 goals).
REGIONAL POLL
St. Cloud State moved up to No. 7 in the United Soccer Coaches regional poll on Sept. 9 following its 3-1-0 start to the season. Minnesota State Mankato (2-1-1) came in ranked first, followed by Central Missouri (2-2-0), Augustana (2-1-1), Bemidji State (1-0-2), Fort Hays State (3-0-1) and Northwest Missouri State (2-1-1). Washburn (3-1-0) checked in at No. 8.
30th SEASON OF ST. CLOUD STATE WOMEN'S SOCCER
The 2023 season will serve as the 30th season of St. Cloud State Women's Soccer, with its inaugural campaign kicking off in 1994. The Huskies have recorded 10 or more wins in six seasons, including most recently in 2019 under head coach Gretta Macdonald when SCSU went 12-5-3 and advanced to the second round of the NSIC Tournament. In 30 seasons, SCSU is 216-242-61 overall, including a 115-92-33 (.546) mark in St. Cloud and a 78-62-25 (.546) record at Husky Stadium, which opened in 2004 and is affectionally known as "Husky Heaven" by the team.
DOMINGUEZ ON RECORD BOOK WATCH
Fifth-year senior Jenna Dominguez (Geneva, Ill.) will get her final chance to further etch her name in the SCSU record book in her final season donning the red and black for SCSU. The 2019 All-NSIC Honorable Mention honoree already ranks amongst the best offensive players in program history, as she ranks second in career game-winning goals (10), eighth in career points (44 points), ninth career goals (17 goals) and 10th in career assists (10 assists). Her four game-winning goals in 2019 and three in 2022 also rank second and fifth, respectively, on the all-time single season list.
