
St. Cloud State Women’s Soccer Scores Early, Beats UMD to Open Conference Play

SCSU improves to 4-1-0 on the season with seventh consecutive win over UMD
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Soccer (4-1-0, 1-0-0 NSIC) opened Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play with a 2-1 win over Minnesota Duluth (1-3-1, 0-1-0 NSIC). The win marked the third consecutive victory for the Huskies and the seventh straight win over the Bulldogs.
Sophomore forward Ellie Primerano (Saint Joseph, Mich.) and freshman forward Linsey Trapino (Verona, Wis.) provided the scoring to propel the Huskies to the victory.
TURNING POINT
SCSU jumped out to an early lead following a goal from Primerano, as sophomore midfielder Brooke Quam (Lakeville, Minn.) made a pass up to the Husky forward, who got past two Bulldog defenders and beat the UMD goalie near-side to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute.
The Huskies would add a goal later in the 35th minute from freshman forward Linsey Trapino (Verona, Wis.), which proved to be the game-winning goal after UMD scored in the 87th minute.
