
No. 8 Women’s Hockey to Host (RV) Minnesota State

Games are Scheduled for Friday and Saturday
ST. CLOUD, MINN. – The St. Cloud State Women's Hockey team (13-6-1, 8-5-1 WCHA) will play host to conference foe, Minnesota State (9-12-0, 3-11-0 WCHA), this upcoming Friday and Saturday. Puck drop is set for 6:00 p.m. CT on Friday while Saturday's start time is 3:00 p.m. CT.
Saturday's contest will be the Paint the Herb Red game, with tickets being $1. Skate with the Huskies will follow Saturday's game where fans in attendance will have the opportunity to skate on the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center's ice and meet the 2023-24 women's hockey team.
CONTEST HISTORY
St. Cloud State has the 51-41-13 advantage over Minnesota State over 105 total games played. Their first contest took place on November 21, 1998, where the Huskies lost by a score of 5-0. In St. Cloud, the Huskies have gone 29-19-5 when facing off against the Mavericks. Last time the teams met was on October 27 and 28, 2023 in Mankato. The Huskies were able to get the series sweep by scores of 3-1 and 2-0.
SANNI TIME
Goaltender Sanni Ahola was just named the WCHA Goaltender of the Month and the HCA Co-Goaltender of the Month for her performance in December. Ahola played in three games in December against No. 2 Minnesota, No. 7 Minnesota-Duluth, and No. 1 Ohio State. The team went 2-0-1 with Sanni in net, taking down the Buckeyes for the first time since 2017, forcing the Gophers into a shootout, and beating the Bulldogs for the first time since 2019.
ALL AROUND PLAYER
Klára Hymlárová typically skates as a forward but has been playing defense. Still, she leads the team in goals (7), points (15), plus/minus (+13), and blocks (38). In addition, Hymlárová plays on the power play and penalty kill, making herself an integral part of this Huskies team.
SANNI TIME PART TWO
Sanni Ahola leads the conference and is second in the nation in goals against average with a .80. Ahola is first in the WCHA and first in the nation in save percentage with a .967 and Ahola is seventh in the nation for win percentage with a .850. Sanni has five shutouts on the season and has only allowed eight total goals.
