Taylor Lind Records Lone Goal for the Huskies
ST. CLOUD, MINN. – The St. Cloud State Women's Hockey team (13-7-1, 8-6-1 WCHA) was taken down by (RV) Minnesota-State (10-12-0, 4-11-0 WCHA) in game one of the two game series on Friday night at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
FIRST PERIOD ACTION
All three goals scored in game one came in the first period. Maverick Whitney Tuttle would start the scoring just over the thirteen-minute mark of the first period. Claire Vekich would beat netminder Jojo Chobak to find the back of the net to put Minnesota State up 2-0. The final goal of the period and the game was scored by captain Taylor Lind.
SPECIAL TEAMS
St. Cloud State would only take one penalty throughout 60 minutes of play. Maddy Peterson would head to the box for roughing, however, Maverick Sydney Langseth would get a match penalty and the teams would see two minutes of 4-on-4 play. The Mavericks would take two additional penalties for hooking and cross checking but held St. Cloud State to one total shot on four minutes of the man advantage.
EMMA GENTRY
In career game 99, senior Emma Gentry tallied 10 shots on goal. This is the second time this season Gentry's shots total has entered the double digits and only third time in her collegiate career. With her 10 shots on Friday, Gentry has 85 total shots this season. In addition, Gentry went 9-for-13 in the face off circle, putting her at a 52.59% in the dot.

The Huskies will be back in action on Saturday, January 13, 2024 against Minnesota State. Puck drop is set for 3:00 p.m. CT with Skate with the Huskies to follow game two of the series.
