Hymlarova, Sauriol, Kaufman score in win
The St. Cloud State women's hockey team (15-7-1, 10-6-1 WCHA) secures a victory in game one against unranked St. Thomas (7-17-0, 1-16-0 WCHA).
IN THE ZONE
Klára Hymlárová (Opava, Czech Republic) started off at the 14:00 minute mark in the second period. St. Thomas turned the puck over in the defensive zone and on the powerplay and Hymlárová was able to take possession. Hymlárová and Taylor Lind (Shaunavon, Saskatchewan) would give and go into the offensive zone where Hymlárová was able to capitalize shorthanded and put the Huskies up by one.
TURNING POINT
The Huskies were on the power play when Emma Gentry (Alpena, Mich.) was called for tripping. St. Thomas was then awarded a penalty shot where Jojo Chobak (Chicago, Ill.) would come up with a huge save to change the momentum of the game. Still on the powerplay, Katie Kaufman (Lake Elmo, Minn.) would take a shot from the faceoff circle and the puck was able to barely slip through to put the Huskies up by two.
ALLOWED ONE BUT NOT DONE
Lind would get called for hooking and the Tommies were able to put one past netminder Chobak on the powerplay to start off the third period. Hymlárová would get called for high sticking and the Huskies would be on the penalty kill back-to-back. They were able to kill it off and hold St. Thomas to just one goal. Just over the 11:00 minute mark in the final frame, CC Bowlby (Edina, Minn.) would feed Alice Sauriol (Sherbrooke, Quebec) for the third and final goal of the game for St. Cloud State.

Four Huskies were fifty percent or better in the faceoff circle. Hymlárová led the team with a 60% when in the faceoff circle. Gentry was just behind with a 57.1% on the dot. Kaufman went 3-for-6 and Avery Farrell went 1-for-2, both reaching the 50% mark.
