
St. Cloud State Women’s Soccer Selected for NCAA Tournament for Second Consecutive season

No. 7-seeded Huskies will face NSIC foe No. 2 Minnesota State on Friday in Mankato, Minn.
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – For the second consecutive season, St. Cloud State Women's Soccer is headed to the NCAA Tournament, as the 2024 NCAA Division-II Women's Soccer Tournament field was announced on Monday. The Huskies (11-3-5, 8-1-5 NSIC), the No. 7 seed in the central region, draws a first-round matchup with No. 2 seed Minnesota State (14-1-6, 11-0-3 NSIC) on Friday, Nov. 22 at 1:00 p.m. CT in Mankato, Minn.
The 2024 Huskies second straight trip to the NCAA Tournament is also the second appearance in program history, building off its first appearance in 2023. This season, the Huskies have set a new program record for unbeaten streak at 11, surpassing its previous streaks of nine unbeaten games in the 1995, 2011 and 2023 seasons. SCSU reached 10 wins for the second consecutive season and seventh season overall. It marks the first time since 2010-11 that they have recorded back-to-back season with 10+ wins. After a setback on Sept. 27, SCSU finished the season 6-1-5 and earned the No. 4-seed in the NSIC Tournament.
SCSU is 8-26-4 all-time against Minnesota State. Earlier this season, the two teams played to a 1-1 draw in Mankato on Oct. 6. The Mavericks won both the NSIC regular season and tournament championships this season.
The NSIC, the Mid-America Athletic Association (MIAA) and the Great American Conference (GAC) make up the 35-team NCAA Central Region. The top eight teams in the region will advance to the NCAA region tournament. The two top-seeded teams in each region shall be offered the opportunity to host, provided minimum site selection criteria are met and a bid has been submitted. Automatic bids are granted to the winners of the MIAA, GAC and NSIC postseason tournaments, with the remaining five spots awarded on an at-large basis.
The first/second round matches of the regional tournament will take place on campus on November 22-24 while third/quarterfinal rounds will be contested at campus sites on December 1 & 7. The 2024 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Semifinal and Championship will take place on December 13 & 15 at Sportsplex at Matthews in Matthews, North Carolina; hosted by Wingate University.
