
Three Huskies Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

Caputo, Eklund, and Ward cited by CSC for academic and athletic performances
St. Cloud, Minn.- Three St. Cloud State Men's Soccer student-athletes have been named to the 2024 Academic All-District® Men's Soccer Team, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC). Senior Philip Caputo, senior Noah Eklund, and junior Rhys Ward earned the honor for their success in the classroom and on the pitch.
The 2024 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced December 10 (men) and December 11 (women). To qualify for Academic All-District® Honors, a student athlete must carry a 3.50 or better grade point average and have competed in at least 90% of the team's total games played or have started at least 66% of the team's total games played.

Caputo has a 3.84 cumulative gpa as a business management major. Caputo had an all-time season for the Huskies as he tallied 32 points from 13 goals and six assists. He started and played 16 games for SCSU, logging 1167 minutes. Caputo was awarded GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year and First-Team All-GLIAC for his season. Last season, Caputo was also awarded with CSC Academic All-District Honors.
Eklund carries a 4.0 gpa as a construction management major. On the field, Eklund was instrumental on the Huskies backline defense as he started 17 games while appearing in 18. Totaling 1463 minutes, Eklund scored four points from one goal and two assists on his way to earning Second Team All-GLIAC honors. Last season, Eklund was also awarded CSC Academic All-District Honors.
Ward carries a 3.56 gpa as a marketing major. For the Huskies this season, Ward was a key piece for the offensive attack. Playing in 17 games and making nine starts, Ward totaled eight points on the year from three goals and two assists in 726 minutes of play.
