Compton, Orham, Parsons, Schuster and Spaine earn honor from CSC for academic and athletics performance
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Five St. Cloud State Women's Soccer student-athletes have been named to the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team, selected by the organization on Tuesday. Sophomore midfielder Cady Compton (Ankeny, Iowa), redshirt junior goalkeeper Meriel Orham (St. Michael, Minn.), redshirt senior midfielder Gracie Parsons (Omaha, Neb.), senior forward Krysten Schuster (Beamsville, Ontario) and sophomore defender Ana Spaine earned the honor for their success in the classroom and on the pitch.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced Dec. 10, 2024 (men) and Dec. 11, 2024 (women).
Compton, a Business major with a 3.64 GPA, has made 12 starts and played in 12 games in her second season as a Husky. She has recorded a goal and two assists for four points.
Orham is in her fourth season as a Husky and maintains a 3.89 GPA as a Health and Physical Education major. She has played all 19 games in goal for the Huskies, posting a 11-3-5 record with a 0.68 goals-against-average, .817 save percentage and seven shutouts. Her GAA would set a new program season record, while her seven shutouts and 11 wins currently rank fifth and fourth, respectively, among single season records.
Parsons is in her third season with the Huskies after spending her first two seasons at D-I Omaha (2020-22). She is currently pursuing her Master's in Business Administration with a 3.73 GPA after earning her bachelor's degree in Community Health. On the pitch, Parsons has played in all 19 games and made 12 starts. This is her second career CSC Academic All-District honor.
A second-year Husky after spending two seasons at Drury (2021-23), Schuster is a finance major with a 3.8 GPA and earned the All-District honor for the second consecutive season. Schuster has started 15 games and played in 18, recording one goal and three assists for five points with 10 shots on goal.
Spaine, a Biomedical Sciences major with a 3.84 GPA, earned her second consecutive All-NSIC First Team honor after an outstanding sophomore campaign. She once again anchored the Huskies backline that was a force all season, as she played in and started all 19 games for the Huskies this season, recording one assist against MSUM (Oct. 18). She average 88.7 minutes per game on the pitch, played a full slate in 16 of 19 games and played on the SCSU backline which was top-five in the NSIC in goals allowed per game, recorded seven shutouts and held its opponents to zero shots on goal three times.
