Series History
Friday's game against Minot State will be the 23rd meeting between the teams with the Huskies holding an 18-6 advantage. The teams matched up against each other twice last year with each team capturing a win.
The first matchup saw the Huskies put together a strong start as they took a 10-3 lead early in the first half. Luke Taylor had a strong start as he scored nine of his 13 points in the opening half including six consecutive points for St. Cloud State to give it a 16-12 lead. An 18-5 run by Minot gave them a seven-point lead with 5:05 left in the 1st half, but back-to-back three-pointers by Anish Ramlall and Matt Willert quickly cut that lead back to one. The rest of the half went back and forth, but the Huskies headed into halftime trailing by one point after Jamiir Allen made a buzzer beating right-handed layup as time expired. Coming out of the break, St. Cloud used a 7-3 run to capture a three-point lead with five of those points coming from Lucas Morgan. The game continued to go back and forth until the 5:05 mark when the Beavers embarked on a 16-2 to put away the Huskies. Allen cashed in a jumper with 3:01 to bring the Huskies within four points, but St. Cloud could not get over the dam and went scoreless the remainder of the game. Minot State came away with an 85-70 victory at Halenbeck Hall.
In Minot for the second meeting, the Huskies got off to a sluggish start going scoreless for the first four minutes of the game but only trailed 7-2. The Beavers worked quickly to build up a lead, going on a 7-0 run over the next two minutes to extend its lead to 10. Minot State maintained control for most of the first half and held a 15-point lead with just under six minutes left in the half. Despite the lead, St. Cloud State closed the half on a 14-4 run, including an 8-0 run, and trailed 36-31 at the break. During the run, the Huskies knocked down three three-pointers with makes by Mutimer, Craig Steele and Anish Ramlall. Wyatt Hawks scored the remaining five points as the Huskies went into halftime with momentum in their favor.

St. Cloud State cut the deficit to three-points early in the second half after Ramlall drained a three-pointer. MISU started to build up another lead after going on a 9-2 run, going up 48-38 with 15 minutes left in the game. The Beavers built their lead up to 13 points with 11:23 remaining. The Huskies fought back with a 6-0 run that was capped off by a Hawks baseline jumper, but the Beavers countered with an 11-2 run of its own that included a demoralizing three-point make by Jaxson Gunville that was intended as a pass. The unintentional basket gave Minot State a 68-52 lead with 5:50 left in the game.

Jamiir Allen finished consecutive layups at the rim, one after he ripped the ball away from Caleb Van De Griend and took it coast to coast. St. Cloud State forced another miss and Morgan finished a layup on the other end, leading to a timeout by Minot State with the Huskies now only trailing by seven with just under four minutes remaining.
