Huskies swimmers to compete in Rochester and divers in La Crosse on Saturday
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Swim & Dive will be in competition again this weekend with a split meet across two cities on Saturday, Oct. 11. The Huskies divers will compete in La Crosse, Wis. Beginning at 1:00 p.m. CT and the swimmers will compete in Rochester, Minn., at 1:30 p.m. CT.
MEN'S PREVIEW
The men are coming off a pair of second place finishes in a Tri-Meet in Marquette, Mich. last weekend with 18 top-three finishes. Three Huskies earned event wins at the meet with junior Piotr Kowalczyk (Warsaw, Poland), senior Matt Pietsch (Cheyenne, Wyo.) and sophomore Marcus Walker (Santa Clarita, Calif.) earning wins in the 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard backstroke and 200-yard breaststroke.
WOMEN'S PREVIEW
The women's team finished second at the Northern Michigan Tri-Meet as well and posted 10 top-three finishes at the meet. Three Huskies earned runner-up finishes in individual events with freshman Megan Willenbring (Watkins, Minn.), freshman Margherita Spada (Genoa, Italy) sophomore and Abriella Werner (Soldotna, Alaska) finishing second in the 50-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke and 3-meter dive.
