Huskies eight-match win streak, perfect start to NSIC season snapped
WAYNE Neb. – No. 11 Wayne State handed No. 10 St. Cloud State Volleyball (13-4, 8-1 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) its first conference loss of the season and snapped its eight-match win streak in a back-and-forth five set match at Rice Auditorium in Wayne on Saturday evening. The Huskies fell 20-25, 36-34, 25-20, 19-25, 10-15.
TOP HUSKIES
"That was a very tough and well fought match against a very talented Wayne State team. They just continue to put pressure on you because they dig everything. They played the fourth and fifth sets with only one attack error – that's unheard of. I was very impressed with our serving and passing tonight. I wish we had served a couple more balls in, but we were being aggressive and getting them out of system, which really helped us defensively. To have four attackers with 17 or more kills is extremely impressive, and I don't know if we've had that in my 10 years here. We just have to continue to make a little bit better decisions on swings and attacking the ball into the court a little better. I wish we would cover our hitters a little bit better to give us attackers a little bit more confidence. It's a great chance for us to learn from this match and continue to grow as a team."
