Kimm, LaPlant and Wachal record double-doubles, Huskies remain perfect in conference play, earn fifth ranked win of 2025 and tie program record for best conference start in NSIC era
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – For the first time since November 19, 2019, No. 13 St. Cloud State Volleyball (11-3, 6-0 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) earned a reverse sweep win. The Huskies took down No. 12 Southwest Minnesota State (10-3, 3-3 NSIC) in five sets after dropping the first two on Friday night at Halenbeck Hall in St. Cloud, 19-25, 19-25, 25-17, 25-23, 15-11.
SCSU remained perfect in conference play, earning its sixth straight conference win to open the season, which ties the program record for the best start during the NSIC era. The Huskies also picked up their fifth ranked win of 2025.
TOP HUSKIES
"It was a very exciting night in Halenback Hall. We really struggled with errors in the first two sets…we got blocked and we couldn't pass or serve very well. We just really couldn't get things rolling at all in sets one and two, however I thought we rebounded extremely well in set three, both offensively and defensively. We completely flipped the blocking and ended up out-blocking Southwest [Minnesota State] in the match. We challenged our women on the defensive end, and they responded really well. I think Southwest hit about .180 the last three sets, which gives you a chance to really compete. We had some subs come in tonight and do a very solid job. It was jusr a fun match to be a part of overall."
NOTABLES
The Huskies close their two match homestand on Saturday at 2 p.m. against Sioux Falls (9-5, 4-2 NSIC). Links to each coverage option can be found on the St. Cloud State Volleyball schedule page.
