St. Cloud State Tennis Defeated 4-3 against Winona State

Huskies take three singles matches
Sartell, Minn.- St. Cloud State Tennis (1-1), dropped their first match of the season as they fell 4-3 to Winona State Saturday afternoon. The Warriors took the doubles point and then won three of the first four singles matches to secure the victory.
Doubles
The Warriors would take all three doubles matches to earn the point. At the No. 3 spot, Brooklyn Broadwell and Gibby Chapman were defeated 6-3. Winona State clinched the doubles point as Skylar Gary and Alexandra Madjun defeated Claudia Muñoz Perez and Lara-Maria Schaefer 6-2 in the No. 2 spot. To complete the sweep, Lainy Ristau and Halle Rosentreter defeated Maria Paz Aoki and Johana Brower 6-1.
Singles
Moving into singles play with a 1-0 deficit, Huskies lost in the No. 5 spot as they now trailed 2-0. Oriana Grott put the first point on the board for SCSU as she took down Elysia Beynon 6-2, 1-6, 10-5 at the No. 4 spot. Winona State came away with two straight set victories at the No. 3 and No. 2 spots to ultimately clinch the match. Muñoz Perez and Schaefer each picked up a straight set victory as the final score would come out to be 4-3.
