
SCSU Swim & Dive Back in Action with Pair of Duals against SDSU, Augustana

SCSU men host South Dakota State Friday before both teams face Augustana on Saturday
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Swim & Dive returns to action for the first time in more than a month this weekend when the SCSU men's team hosts South Dakota State on Friday, Jan. 16 before both teams head to Sioux Falls to face Augustana on Saturday, Jan. 17. On Friday, the meet is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m. CT at the Halenbeck Hall Aquatic Center while the Saturday dual in Sioux Falls will begin at 11:00 a.m. CT.
In its last time out, the Huskies earned first place finishes at the Rochester Invite (Dec. 4-6), with the men's team scoring 2,001 points and the women's team scoring 1,808 points. The men recorded 19 NCAA B cut times and one school record while the women's team tallied four NCAA B cut times.
Senior Cade Rosenwald (Brainerd, Minn.) set the school record in a first-place finish in the 100-yard IM with a time of 50.59. Junior Reid Tigges (Spencer, Iowa) and junior Lance Godard (Lee's Summit, Mo.) each posted NCAA top-10 times in their events with Tigges finishing first in the 50-yard freestyle at 19.78 and Godard finishing first in the 100-yard butterfly at 47.79. Godard's time currently ranks sixth nationally while Tigges' time ranks seventh. Junior Piotr Kowalczyk (Warsaw, Poland) continues his impressive first season as a Husky, posting four NCAA B cut times in the 50-yard freestyle (20.07), 100-yard freestyle (43.89), 100-yard backstroke (49.23) and 400-yard freestyle relay (2:56.03).
On the women's side, sophomore Emma Hoppman (Red Wing, Minn.) and sophomore Hallie Drossel (Melrose, Minn.) posted NCAA B cut times in their swimming events, while sophomore Abriella Werner (Soldotna, Alaska) and senior Karlie Woodall (Tomahawk, Wis.) did so on the diving board. Drossel finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:03.88 while Hoppman finished second in the 50-yard freestyle at 23.62. Woodall finished third in the 1-meter dive with 391.35 points while Woodall finished fifth in the 3-meter dive with a score of 379.35.
