Huskies fall 83-56 to No. 2 Mavericks in 2026 Opener

SCSU commits 42 turnovers for 35 MSU points
St. Cloud, MN. – St. Cloud State Women's Basketball (4-9, 1-7 NSIC) were defeated 83-56 against No. 2 Minnesota State in their first game of 2026. The Huskies committed 42 turnovers which led to 35 points for MSU.
Through the first minute and a half, the Huskies held a 5-2 lead with Reagan Briggs accounting for all five of SCSU's points. From that point, the Mavericks commenced on a 9-2 as they took an 11-7 lead. The defense of the Huskies would ramp up as they held Mankato without a field goal for over four minutes of play as they cut the deficit down to three. A layup by the Mavericks with 11 seconds left gave them an 18-15 lead after one. SCSU held MSU to 8/21 shooting in the first quarter. St. Cloud State held strong against the second ranked Mavs into the second quarter as a jumper by Jada Eggebrecht brought them with a point. A 12-3 burst by Mankato opened up the game as they led 33-23 with 3:43 left in the half. The Huskies did not let go of the rope as they battled to trail 39-29 at halftime.
Out of the second half, the Mavericks burst out with a 13-2 run as turnovers began to pile up for the Huskies. SCSU made their first field goal of the half at the 3:47 mark of the third where they now trailed 54-35. St. Cloud State would trail by 19+ points the remainder of the game with their biggest deficit being 28 points. They would ultimately fall 83-56 against No. 2 Minnesota State.
