Huskies take on Minot State and UMary
St. Cloud, MN. – St. Cloud State Women's Basketball (4-9, 1-7 NSIC) will play two NSIC North Division opponents for the first time this season as they travel to Minot State on Friday, January 9 and then to UMary on Saturday, January 10. Friday's game is set for 7:30 p.m. while Saturday's game will be played at 5:30 p.m.

Huskies fall 83-56 to No. 2 Mavericks in 2026 Opener- January 3, 2026
Through the first minute and a half, the Huskies held a 5-2 lead with Reagan Briggs accounting for all five of SCSU's points. From that point, the Mavericks commenced on a 9-2 as they took an 11-7 lead. The defense of the Huskies would ramp up as they held Mankato without a field goal for over four minutes of play as they cut the deficit down to three. A layup by the Mavericks with 11 seconds left gave them an 18-15 lead after one. SCSU held MSU to 8/21 shooting in the first quarter. St. Cloud State held strong against the second ranked Mavs into the second quarter as a jumper by Jada Eggebrecht brought them with a point. A 12-3 burst by Mankato opened up the game as they led 33-23 with 3:43 left in the half. The Huskies did not let go of the rope as they battled to trail 39-29 at halftime.
Out of the second half, the Mavericks burst out with a 13-2 run as turnovers began to pile up for the Huskies. SCSU made their first field goal of the half at the 3:47 mark of the third where they now trailed 54-35. St. Cloud State would trail by 19+ points the remainder of the game with their biggest deficit being 28 points. They would ultimately fall 83-56 against No. 2 Minnesota State.

After crossing 1,000 career points last season, senior Jada Eggebrecht continues to rise the career scoring leaderboard at St. Cloud State. With 173 points this season, Eggebrecht is up to 1,284 career points which puts her at 20th all-time. The Philips, Wis. native has also cashed 156 career three-pointers, good for eighth all-time. She is eight threes away from passing Teri Watkins (1995-99) for seventh.

Friday's game against Minot State will be the 29th all-time meeting between the teams with the Huskies holding a 23-5 advantage in the series. SCSU has won six straight games over the Beavers including a sweep in the regular season last season as well as a playoff game.
Defense Propels Huskies in 63-51 Victory over Minot State- December 6, 2024
The Huskies flexed their defensive muscle in the first quarter as they held the Beavers to nine points on 4/13 shooting. Offensively, St. Cloud State put up 19 points by shooting 7/17, but were aggressive attacking the paint as they made five of their six free throw attempts. The teams battled in the second quarter quickly cut the Huskies lead to six points with 7:49 remaining in the half. Kylan Gerads pushed that lead back up to double-digits after she cashed a three-pointer and then finished a layup off her own miss to set the score at 26-15. St. Cloud State would go into halftime leading 29-20 after holding the Beavers to 36% from the field.
SCSU's offense started to pick up coming out of halftime as a 9-2 run gave them a 15 point lead with 3:11 left in the third quarter. St. Cloud State would comfortably hold a 48-32 lead going into the final quarter after Jada Eggebrecht nailed a jumper with 39 seconds remaining. Minot State came out with a spark to start the fourth quarter as a 7-0 run at the 6:30 mark of the game cut St. Cloud State's lead to 10 points. SCSU would call a timeout and after trading turnovers, Reagan Briggs knocked down a much needed three-pointer for the Huskies to ease the tension. Minot State was never able to crack the St. Cloud State's lead into single digits the rest of the way as the Huskies picked up their first conference victory with a 63-51 win. The Huskies defense was lights out as they held Minot State to 40% from the field, 28% from three, and forced 19 turnovers.

Huskies Dominate the Glass in 72-62 Win Against Minot State- February 8, 2025
The first quarter saw the Huskies jump out to an early 9-3 lead three minutes into the game as Kristi Kottke splashed a long two. The Beavers worked their way back to only trail by a single point following a 8-3 run with 4:28 left in the quarter. The defense for the Huskies stepped up as they held Minot State scoreless the remainder of the quarter to ultimately lead 16-11. The second quarter saw the teams battle back-and-forth with the Huskies holding a 20-17 lead at the 6:38 remaining in the half. St. Cloud State defensively again stepped up as the Beavers could only manage three points and one made field goal, which came with seven seconds left, the rest of the half. During that time, an 8-0 run by SCSU propelled them to a 30-19 lead which ultimately turned into a 30-21 halftime lead after the layup by Minot State.
The lead was steadily held by the Huskies coming out of halftime for the entirety of the third quarter. Leading by 6+ points for the quarter, St. Cloud State would end the quarter with a bang as Kylan Gerads knocked down a pair of free throws to put SCSU up 47-35 with eight seconds remaining. The free throws by Gerads were in the midst of a 5-0 run. That run quickly turned into an 8-0 as Alana Zarneke came away with an inbounds steal where she hit Kristi Kottke in the slot to cash a three as the Huskies would go into the fourth quarter leading 50-35. Kottke cashed another three to open the fourth quarter for the Huskies, extending the lead to 18 points. The Huskies ultimately led the entirety of the fourth quarter by 9+ points as they would go on to win 72-62 for their 11th win of the season. Controlling the glass was a key component in the win as SCSU snagged 19 offensive rebounds leading to 20 second chance points. They would ultimately outrebound the Beavers by 13.

Strong Defensive Second Half Propels Huskies to the Quarterfinals in NSIC Tournament- February 6, 2025
With the game tied 2-2, Reagan Briggs and Alana Zarneke knocked down back-to-back threes as SCSU took an 8-4 lead at the 7:01 mark of the first quarter. Minot State responded with a three of their own as they now only trailed by a single point. The rest of the first quarter was a tight battle as neither team held more than a one possession lead as the game would be tied at 17 after the first. To start the second quarter, Minot surged to an eight point lead following a 10-2 run. Out of a timeout with 4:46 left in the half, Paige Lambe finished inside to give the Huskies their first field goal of the quarter. Following a series of stops by both teams, Jada Eggebrecht cashed a three as SCSU started to gain momentum. The Huskies forced another turnover as Lambe again finished inside. With 1:05 left in the half, Alana Zarneke would get fouled and make both free throws as the Huskies now held a 28-27 lead. The teams traded free throw makes, before Sydney Gustavsson made a buzzer beating three to give the Beavers a 32-29 lead at the break.

Huskies Blanketed in Fourth Quarter Against Marauders, Fall 73-55- December 17, 2024
The Huskies got off to a strong start as the Marauders were unable to make a field goal in the first four minutes of the game. St. Cloud State led 8-1 when UMary made their first field goal at the 5:19 mark of the quarter. The Marauders started to find their flow offensively from that moment as they closed the quarter on an 18-10 run as they would lead 21-18 heading into the second quarter. The two teams battled back and forth in the second quarter as neither team would hold a lead greater than three points. UMary held a marginal 33-32 lead going into halftime.
St. Cloud State would momentarily hold momentum as Alyssa Stamer capped off a 10-1 run with a three-pointer as the Huskies would lead 42-36. UMary countered with a 7-0 run as they took a one-point lead. From that point on, neither team led by more than four points the remainder of the quarter. UMary ended the quarter with a bang as Emily Jaenke banked in a halfcourt heave at the buzzer to give the Marauders a 53-51 lead. From that point on, UMary was in control the rest of the way. They used their newly found momentum and translated that to the defensive end as St. Cloud State made their first field goal of the quarter with 1:20 left in the game. The Huskies shot 1/11 from the field in the fourth quarter and would be outscored 20-4. UMary ramped up their defensive energy in the final frame as they would go on to win 73-55.

Marauders Offense Too Much for Huskies in 83-57 loss- February 5, 2025
The Huskies scored on their first two possessions of the game to take a 4-0 lead before the Marauders went on an 8-0 run. UMary extended their lead up to eight points after making a corner three, but Rachel Kottke was able to weather the storm with a three-pointer of her own. The Marauders kept expanding the lead as a buzzer beating three-pointer by Anna Lenzen put UMary up 23-13 at the end of the first quarter. The offense for UMary continued to hum as they pushed the lead up to 17 with 6:51 remaining until halftime. The Huskies started gather some momentum as back-to-back threes by Kristi Kottke and Alana Zarneke forced a timeout. Coming out of that timeout, the Marauders got back on track with an 11-3 run to push the lead up to 19 with 2:50 left until halftime. For the second straight quarter, UMary ended the quarter on a buzzer beater as a layup by Bergan Kinnebrew gave the Marauders a 48-26 lead going into halftime.
The second half garnered similar results as St. Cloud State trailed by as many as 31 points as they would ultimately be defeated 83-57.

Scouting Minot State
The Minot State Beavers come into this game holding a 7-8 record with a 4-4 mark in the NSIC. They have taken down Jamestown, MSU Moorhead, Minnesota Crookston, and Bemidji State. Minot State is coming off a 2024-25 season where they went 10-20 but tallied a 9-13 conference record. They would be defeated in the first round of the NSIC tournament to the Huskies. MSU was projected to finish ninth in the NSIC Preseason Poll.
While the Beavers lost their lone All-Conference honoree in Emma Mogen in the offseason, they do return a bulk of their roster and key players from a season ago.
Through 15 games, Taryn Hamling leads Minot State in scoring with 16.3 points and is shooting 43.8% from the field and 37.1% from three. Three other Beavers score in double figures including Maya Aguilar (12.1), Tiyahna Trottier (10.7), and Jessica Mogen (10.2).

Scouting UMary
The University of Mary Marauders come into this game holding a 13-4 record with a 6-2 mark in the NSIC. The six conference wins for UMary have come against Minot State (x2), Northern State, Minnesota Crookston, MSU Moorhead, and Bemidji State. They are currently tied for third in the NSIC. The Marauders are coming off a 2024-25 season where they went 16-12 with a 12-10 conference record. UMary finished sixth in the NSIC and beat Minnesota Duluth in the first round of the NSIC tournament before falling to Minnesota State. Coming into this season, UMary was projected to finish sixth in the NSIC.
The Marauders return their lone All-Conference honoree from a season ago in Bergan Kinnebrew who made First Team All-NSIC. Kinnebrew led UMary in scoring with 15.5 points per game.

- Alyssa Stamer scored eight points and dished out six assists while making two three-pointers and nabbing a steal. This was the third game of the season where Stamer has totaled 6+ assists.
Marauders Offense Too Much for Huskies in 83-57 loss- February 5, 2025
The Huskies scored on their first two possessions of the game to take a 4-0 lead before the Marauders went on an 8-0 run. UMary extended their lead up to eight points after making a corner three, but Rachel Kottke was able to weather the storm with a three-pointer of her own. The Marauders kept expanding the lead as a buzzer beating three-pointer by Anna Lenzen put UMary up 23-13 at the end of the first quarter. The offense for UMary continued to hum as they pushed the lead up to 17 with 6:51 remaining until halftime. The Huskies started gather some momentum as back-to-back threes by Kristi Kottke and Alana Zarneke forced a timeout. Coming out of that timeout, the Marauders got back on track with an 11-3 run to push the lead up to 19 with 2:50 left until halftime. For the second straight quarter, UMary ended the quarter on a buzzer beater as a layup by Bergan Kinnebrew gave the Marauders a 48-26 lead going into halftime.
The second half garnered similar results as St. Cloud State trailed by as many as 31 points as they would ultimately be defeated 83-57.
Top Huskies
- Rachel Kottke paced the Huskies in scoring as she tallied 13 points on 5/10 shooting with three made three-pointers. She also totaled five rebounds, two assists, and a steal. This was her fifth game scoring 13+ points and seventh game with 3+ made threes.
- Reagan Briggs scored five points and grabbed seven rebounds while nabbing two steals. This was her fourth game with 7+ rebounds and 10th multi-steal game.
- Kylan Gerads totaled nine points and five rebounds. This was her 11th game with 5+ rebounds and 9+ points.
Scouting Minot State
The Minot State Beavers come into this game holding a 7-8 record with a 4-4 mark in the NSIC. They have taken down Jamestown, MSU Moorhead, Minnesota Crookston, and Bemidji State. Minot State is coming off a 2024-25 season where they went 10-20 but tallied a 9-13 conference record. They would be defeated in the first round of the NSIC tournament to the Huskies. MSU was projected to finish ninth in the NSIC Preseason Poll.
While the Beavers lost their lone All-Conference honoree in Emma Mogen in the offseason, they do return a bulk of their roster and key players from a season ago.
Through 15 games, Taryn Hamling leads Minot State in scoring with 16.3 points and is shooting 43.8% from the field and 37.1% from three. Three other Beavers score in double figures including Maya Aguilar (12.1), Tiyahna Trottier (10.7), and Jessica Mogen (10.2).

Scouting UMary
The University of Mary Marauders come into this game holding a 13-4 record with a 6-2 mark in the NSIC. The six conference wins for UMary have come against Minot State (x2), Northern State, Minnesota Crookston, MSU Moorhead, and Bemidji State. They are currently tied for third in the NSIC. The Marauders are coming off a 2024-25 season where they went 16-12 with a 12-10 conference record. UMary finished sixth in the NSIC and beat Minnesota Duluth in the first round of the NSIC tournament before falling to Minnesota State. Coming into this season, UMary was projected to finish sixth in the NSIC.
The Marauders return their lone All-Conference honoree from a season ago in Bergan Kinnebrew who made First Team All-NSIC. Kinnebrew led UMary in scoring with 15.5 points per game.
Kinnebrew has taken another jump and leads the NSIC in scoring with 24.1 points per game while shooting 49.3% from the field and 42.1% from three. She also leads the team in steals with 1.7. Allison Undlin is the only other player to score in double figures with 13.1 points. She leads the team in rebounding with 7.9 per game.
