St. Cloud State Women’s Basketball Hits the Road for Key Weekend Trip

Huskies take on Wayne State and Augustana
St. Cloud, MN. – St. Cloud State Women's Basketball (11-12, 8-10 NSIC) travel to Wayne State on Thursday, February 12 and then to Augustana on Saturday, February 14 as the postseason approaches. Thursday's game is set for 5:30 p.m. while Saturday's game will tip-off at 1:30 p.m.

Balanced Scoring Pushes Huskies Past Mustangs in Key 82-67 Victory- February 5, 2026
St. Cloud State came out on fire on both ends as CJ Adamson capped off a 12-2 start by draining a slot three to force a timeout by SMSU. The Huskies continued to roll following the timeout as they ripped off a 9-0 run with Rachel Kottke cashing a three to go up 21-2 and force another timeout. SCSU would ultimately lead 26-12 at the end of the first. The Mustangs carried over their momentum from the end of the first quarter as they opened the second on a 9-2 run. St. Cloud State stayed poised as they kept a steady lead throughout the rest of the half. SCSU went into halftime leading 44-29 after a 5-0 run in the final 46 seconds.
Out of the break, SMSU would chip away at the lead but the Huskies had an answer every time the Mustangs looked to break through. SCSU went into the fourth leading 60-47. SMSU worked the lead under 10 with a 7-2 run to start the fourth. With 7:50 remaining, Paige Lambe would finish a tough and-one to momentarily halt the momentum. The Mustangs would not go away as they cut the lead down to six with 5:42 remaining. Lambe would add a point with a free throw before Kottke curled around Abigail O'Reilly to finish the open layup to push the lead back up to nine. After the teams traded free throws, Jada Eggebrecht nailed a crucial three as the lead got back into double digits. St. Cloud State led by 9+ points the rest of the way as they went on to beat Southwest Minnesota State 82-67 in their wire-to-wire win.

St. Cloud State found themselves in a 6-1 deficit two and a half minutes in the game. From that point, SCSU rattled off an 8-0 run as a jumper by Alana Zarneke forced a Sioux Falls timeout. The Huskies kept the momentum rolling with stifling defense and complementary offense as they ballooned the lead to 11 points following a three by Jada Eggebrecht. SCSU would lead 19-8 after the first quarter as they held Sioux Falls to 40% from the field and a six-minute scoring drought. Eggebrecht stayed hot from three to start the second as she cashed two threes to open the quarter. She would drain her third three of the quarter as the Huskies now led 32-14 at the 6:24 mark of the second quarter. St. Cloud State went into halftime leading 43-26 after Kristi Kottke putback a layup right before the buzzer sounded.
The second half saw similar results as the Huskies led by 14+ points the rest of the half with a lead as big as 22 points. SCSU produced a strong defensive outing as they forced 24 turnovers leading to 23 points. The Huskies would ultimately win 72-56 for their third straight win.

Playoff Push
With two week left in the regular season, the Huskies will be looking to make a playoff push to solidify their place in the standings. The top four seeds in the standings receive a bye to the Stanford Pentagon, teams seeded 5-8 will host a first round playoff game, and teams seed 9-12 will travel to the corresponding host. St. Cloud State is currently tied for seventh in the NSIC Standings and have won five of their past six games.

After crossing 1,000 career points last season, senior Jada Eggebrecht continues to rise the career scoring leaderboard at St. Cloud State. With 330 points this season, Eggebrecht is up to 1,441 career points which puts her at 13th all-time. The Philips, Wis. native has also cashed 173 career three-pointers which is sixth all-time.

Huskies Go Wire-to-Wire in 78-55 Win over Wayne State- December 13, 2025
St. Cloud State burst out of the gates to start the game as a pair of triples from Jada Eggebrecht and Rachel Kottke led to an 8-0 run and an early timeout by the Wildcats. The Huskies steadily held that lead for the first quarter, but WSC closed the quarter on a 5-0 to set the score at 19-15. Wayne State continued to chip into the SCSU lead as they cut it down to two points, but an 8-1 run capped off by a triple from Alana Zarneke rebuilt it back up to nine with 6:45 left in the half. The Wildcats did not let go of the rope as they again had another strong close to the quarter as they set the score at 34-29 going into halftime.
While the teams traded buckets to open the half, a 10-4 run late in the third propped the Huskies up to a 10-point lead. They continued to pile it one as they ultimately led 56-43 headed into the fourth. A three-pointer by Kristi Kottke served as the dagger as SCSU came out on fire with a 10-0 to run the fourth as they now led 66-43. St. Cloud State would lead by 20+ points the remainder of the game with their biggest lead being 25 as they went on to win 78-55. The Huskies played a complete game as they shot 51.8% from the field and 60% from three while holding Wayne State to 31.6% from the field and 19.2% from three while forcing 16 turnovers.

Huskies Drop Tight Match to Augustana in 72-68 Defeat- December 11, 2025
Three minutes into the game, Augustana came out with a 7-3 lead after finishing a layup. A 12-2 run capped off by Jada Eggebrecht finding Paige Lambe in the post who finished for a layup gave SCSU a 14-9 lead. The Vikings would respond with a 7-0 run to end the quarter as they led 16-14 after one. The Vikings held a steady lead for the majority of the second quarter as they held a 10-point lead with 21 seconds left until halftime. Eggebrecht added a spark at the end of the half as she finished a running floater as SCSU went into halftime trailing 35-27.
The first five minutes of the third quarter saw the teams trade buckets as SCSU could not cut into the lead and Augustana could not take control of the game. At the 4:59 mark of the third, CJ Adamson drilled a corner three and followed that with an assist to Reagan Briggs who cashed her own three. The three by Briggs cut the deficit down to two points. The teams traded layups before Brynn Olson finished inside to tie the game at 49. The Vikings retook the lead with a pair of free throws, but Eggebrecht burst through the paint and finished a layup through contact for the and-one. Her free throw swished home as SCSU led for the first time since the first quarter. A triple by Rachel Kottke with 36 seconds left in the quarter gave SCSU a 57-54 lead headed into the fourth. The defenses of both teams ramped up as the game would be tied at 61 halfway through the final frame. With 4:17 left in the game, the Vikings finished a layup which marked the start of an 8-0 run. An inside finish by Abigail O'Reilly stopped the bleeding as SCSU trailed 69-63 with two minutes left. The Huskies had one last burst in them as an offensive rebound and putback by Rachel Kottke set the score at 71-68 with 18 seconds remaining. Following a timeout by Augustana, SCSU smothered on the inbounds as they forced a five-second violation as they now had a chance to tie the game. The Huskies came away with a good shot attempt as Eggebrecht fired a three, but she was unable to connect to tie the game. St. Cloud State would have to foul where Augustana knocked down one of two free throws to put the game at multiple possessions. SCSU was ultimately defeated 72-68 against the Vikings.
