St. Cloud State hit the road this past weekend as they traveled to Wayne State and Augustana.
Huskies Come Up Clutch in 67-64 Win Over Wayne State- February 12, 2026
SCSU got off to a strong start as an and-one layup by Lee Marks III gave the Huskies a 12-4 lead four and half minutes into the game. St. Cloud State held a steady lead for the next eight minutes following the early spurt by forcing turnovers. Back-to-back threes by Wayne State with 6:13 left in the cut the lead down to four as they looked to gain momentum. The teams were interlocked the rest of the half, but SCSU led 37-35 at halftime.
Out of the break, the Wildcats carried over their momentum from the end of the half to the second half to take a four-point lead. The Huskies would retake that lead with back-to-back threes by Anish Ramlall and Azayah Washington followed by a fall-away baseline jumper by Marks III. At the 15:02 mark of the second half, WSC rattled off a 10-0 run as they took a six-point lead and held all the momentum. As he has done throughout the year, the freshman Washington came up with a big three to halt the momentum. The ensuing possession saw Wyatt Hawks reject a layup attempt and then knockdown an elbow jumper as the Wildcats called a timeout. The teams then battled back and forth as a layup by Luke Winkel tied the game at 60 with 5:20 to go. Both teams went scoreless the next two minutes, until WSC made a jumper to retake the lead with 3:24 remaining. On their possession, Winkel collapsed the defense with a baseline drive and fired a pass to an open Ramlall in the slot who buried a big triple as SCSU took a 63-62 lead. Wayne State retook the lead following another jumper before the teams traded defense stops. With 1:19 left in the game, SCSU had possession on the sideline. After getting a screen from Winkel, Ramlall jetted down the lane from the top of the key and finished a left-handed layup as the Huskies regained the lead. Winkel stood tall on the next defensive possession as he forced a tough layup that would be boarded by Marks III. Ramlall would then drive into the lane and kick out to Marks III who then drove into the paint. He collapsed the defense and found an open Ramlall at the top of the key who fired a potential dagger three. His three would hit back iron, but Kynan Philippe crashed the glass from the corner and got a hand on the ball which deflected out to Hawks who secured the extra possession on an instrumental play by Philippe. The Huskies would call a timeout to reset with a new shot clock and 23 seconds remaining. Out of the timeout holding a one-point lead, the Huskies went to Hawks in an isolation at the elbow. The White Bear Lake native worked his way into the paint, split through a double team and then finished inside with a right-handed hook for the clutch bucket to give St. Cloud State a 67-64 lead with nine seconds remaining. SCSU would foul twice as Wayne State called a timeout with seven seconds left. Needing a three to tie, the Wildcats went to JJ Ferrin after he was freed up off a cross screen off ball action. Hawks got out to contest Ferrin who fired a deep three for the tie. His shot went off the right side of the rim as Philippe came away with the rebound as the buzzer sounded. St. Cloud State would come away with the 67-64 win for their 13th straight win.

Huskies Win NSIC Championship Following 87-80 Comeback Victory Over Augustana- February 14, 2026
SCSU burst out of the gates with a 15-6 lead through the first three and a half minutes as a fastbreak layup by Lee Marks III forced an Augustana timeout. The Vikings would slowly come back into the game but an and-one layup by Luke Winkel kept the lead for SCSU at 24-23 with 8:41 left in the half. The Vikings moved forward with their momentum as 12-2 run gave them a nine-point advantage and led to a Huskies timeout. Augustana would shoot 54% from the field and 40% from three in the first half as they led 50-40 at halftime. Anish Ramlall came away with a key buzzer beating floater to end the half.
Out of the break, St. Cloud State stayed within striking distance, but were unable to get closer than nine points through the first few minutes. Back-to-back threes by the Vikings pushed the lead to 16 as SCSU called a timeout with Augustana holding all the momentum. Out of the timeout, St. Cloud State rallied with a 12-2 run, all from beyond the arc over the next five minutes to cut the deficit down to six points. Nate Dahl made his return to the lineup and knocked in two of those threes. After an abnormal defensive first half, SCSU found their groove on that end and showcased why they are the top unit in the NSIC. St. Cloud State flied around on defense and contested shots to gather momentum for the offense. Off a trap near halfcourt, Marks III would come up with a poke away and coasted for a breakaway dunk to set the score at 69-67 with the Huskies now only trailing by two with 8:37 left. St. Cloud State would take their first lead since the first half as Kynan Philippe cashed a slot three off a pick and pop with 6:31 remaining to set the score at 73-71. The game would be tied at 75 with less than three minutes left, but it was Philippe who again broke the tie with another critical three, this time from the top of the key. With under two minutes left, St. Cloud State held a 78-77 lead and the ball. Winkel and Wyatt Hawks worked a pick and roll as the sophomore found the big man rolling with a great pocket pass. Hawks finished the inside layup with 1:44 left in the game as SCSU now led by three. The potent Huskies defense would come away with steal in the clutch on the ensuing possession as Winkel came over from help side to nab the steal. SCSU would work the clock before missing an inside finish, but for the second straight game, the Huskies would come up with a massive offensive rebound in the clutch, this time from Dahl. Working more clock knowing a bucket would go a long way with the 40 seconds left in the game, St. Cloud State again went to a pick roll between the Winkel and Hawks pairing. Coming down the middle, Winkel had space for a floater, but it would hit back iron. The White Bear Lake native in Hawks was not boxed out on his roll and one of the best offensive rebounders in the conference made the Vikings pay as he jammed home a massive putback dunk as Augustana called a timeout now trailing by five. With the Vikings needing a quick bucket, Sam Rensch gathered a head of steam as he attacked Hawks in a one-on-one situation in an open floor following a SCSU press. Rensch went right at Hawks with a euro step layup, but Hawks went right back at him as he swatted his shot off the backboard. Marks III corralled the rebound and outlet it to Winkel as Augustana looked to foul. Winkel would throw an outlet of his own to Hawks who had sprinted up the court as no Vikings were near him. He would catch the ball, take two dribbles, and deliver the exclamation point with a vicious two-handed dunk which ultimately sealed the victory as the Huskies now led by seven with 28 seconds remaining. St. Cloud State would go on to win 87-80 to claim their first NSIC Title since 2003. After Augustana took a 16-point lead, SCSU would outscore them 38-15 the rest of the way. They held the Vikings to 39% shooting in the second half from the field and 27% from three while forcing seven turnovers.

Late Game Surge Pushes Huskies Past RV Golden Bears in 93-87 Win- December 3, 2025
The first half was an offensive battle as the teams each shot greater than 50% from the field. Neither team was able to gather much separation as St. Cloud State's biggest lead of the half was four points while Concordia-St. Paul's was three points. In the final three minutes of the half, the Huskies cashed three of their last four three-point attempts, propping them to a 49-45 lead at the break. Luke Winkel was the leading scorer of the half with 15 points and also dished out six assists.
SCSU carried over their momentum from the end of the half as a three by Anish Ramlall put the Huskies up 58-51 at the 17:44 mark of the second half. CSP would respond with an 8-0 run to retake the lead as the game went back to a back-and-forth affair. With 4:36 left in the game, the Golden Bears held a narrow 83-82 lead after a three-pointer by Owen Carlson. After a miss by both teams, Wyatt Hawks gathered a mismatch in the post and found a diving Ramlall who freed himself open off a baseline cut. Ramlall finished through contact for the big bucket and the and-one to retake the lead for SCSU. He would not convert the free throw, but after another defensive stop Ramlall found an open Philippe who splashed a three to give SCSU an 87-83 lead with 3:04 remaining. While the offense came away with timely buckets and free throws, the defensive physicality of the Huskies shined as they held CSP without a field goal for over four minutes of action. After the three by Carlson, CSP would not make a field goal until 26 seconds remained as Carlson finished a layup to set the score at 91-87 with the Huskies leading. Ramlall would ice the game at the free throw line with a pair of makes as SCSU walked into the Gangelhoff Center and knocked off RV Concordia-St. Paul by score of 93-87.
