2011-12: Played in all 36 games for the Huskies during her rookie season ... Totaled two goals, 12 assists, 68 shots, and 14 blocks on the season ... -33 plus/minus ... 2/4 PIM ... Led the team in assists (12) and tied for second on the team with most points (14) ... Scored first collegiate goal of her career against North Dakota on Nov. 4 ... Before SCSU: St. Cloud State's former assistant women's hockey coach Jennifer Kranz (2006-11), along with current Husky Abby Ness (Roseau, Minn.), were members of the U.S. Women's National Under-18 Team which captured the gold medal at the 2011 International Ice Hockey Federation World Women's U18 Championship on Saturday, Jan. 8, with a 5-2 win over Canada at Stora Mossen Arena. Team USA finished the tournament undefeated with a 5-0-0-0 record to claim its third world title in four years.
HIGH SCHOOL: Abby Ness hails from Roseau, which is a town rich in hockey tradition. Coached by Brian Bergstrom at Roseau High School, Ness is a three-sport standout athlete for the Rams. Standing 5’6” at center, Ness helped lead her high school squad to a third place finish at the Minnesota State Girls’ Hockey Tournament in 2007 and 2008. For her efforts, she was named to the All-Tournament team. A four-time letterwinner for the Rams, Ness has charted All-State honors as well as team Most Valuable Player accolades in hockey. Ness also excelled in tennis and golf at RHS. She has lettered six times in tennis and has appeared at the Minnesota State Tournament four times in her prep career. She has also earned three Minnesota State Tournament appearances in golf.
