Rebecca Wesley serves as the assistant coach for the women's track & field and cross country programs at St. Cloud State University. The 2020 cross country season marks her third year at SCSU.
In Wesley's first two years of coaching the Huskies, the women's cross country team improved their standings in the conference and region championship meets by two and six places, respectively. In the 2019 cross country season, senior Chrissy Lofgren achieved her highest athletic honors as both a First Team All-NSIC and an NCAA DII Central All-Region student-athlete. Then on the track in 2020, Lofgren broke an individual school record in the mile and teamed up with fellow Huskies Clara Welhouse, Makayla Rice, and Anna Tomovic to break a second record for the distance team in the indoor distance medley relay.
Prior to SCSU, Wesley was an intern assistant track & field coach at Luther College in Decorah, IA from 2017-2018. Before that, she was an assistant cross country coach at Augsburg University for the 2016 cross country season. Wesley also volunteered at her Alma Mater, Bethel University, during the 2016 outdoor track & field season.
While attending Bethel University, Wesley was a double major in Biokinetics and Philosophy. As an athlete she received two All-MIAC honors and six All-MIAC Honorable Mentions. Wesley was given the program's Commitment and Leadership Award and served as team captain during the 2014 and 2015 track & field seasons. In addition, Wesley was an Academic All-Conference honoree, a member of the 2014 All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team, participated in the 2014 MIAC Student-Athlete Leadership Conference, and helped the Royals break five school records.
Wesley earned her M.Ed. in Applied Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sports Management at the University of Minnesota and completed her eligibility with the Gophers in 2016. While at Minnesota, she participated in a season of cross country and indoor track & field and was a senior letter winner during the 2015 cross country season.
Wesley holds certifications from the USTFCCCA Track & Field Academy in Strength & Conditioning and Program Management and is a Level 1 Certified USATF Track & Field Coach. She has also attended several coaching conferences including the USTFCCCA Convention and the Women's Coaching Symposium organized by the Tucker Center for Research on Girls & Women in Sport.
Wesley grew up in Oakdale, MN and is an All-State athlete who competed for Tartan Senior High School. She is grateful to the coaches and mentors who guided her during her high school and college career.
