#14/15 Huskies End Weekend with 3-1 Setback

Anchorage, Alaska - The #14/15 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (8-6-0, 6-4-0 WCHA) ended its weekend trip to Alaska with a 3-1 loss at Alaska Anchorage (3-5-4, 1-4-3 WCHA) on Saturday, Dec. 1.
The loss pushed into a two-way tie for second place in the WCHA along with Minnesota, as both teams head into games next week with 12 league points. Denver continued its lead in the league with a 9-4-1, 7-2-1 WCHA record and 15 points.
The Seawolves jumped to a quick 1-0 lead at 3:53 of the first period with an even-strength goal by Scott Allen. Blake Tatchell and Alex Gellert both provided assists on the play. UAA then charted the eventual game-winner at 13:19 of the first period with a goal by Scott Warner. Quinn Sproule and Matt Bailey added the assists on the play for UAA.
UAA ended its scoring attack in the second period with a goal by Daniel Naslund at 2:24. Hayden Trupp and Jordan Kwas provided the assists on the play that made it 3-0.
The Huskies broke the shutout in the third period with a goal by rookie forward Jonny Brodzinski at 15:36. Senior forward Drew LeBlanc and sophomore defender Jarrod Rabey each had assists on the play.
This was Brodzinski's second goal of the weekend and his fourth goal of the season. LeBlanc ended his trip to Alaska with three assists and the point also pushed his season assist total to a team leading 13 in 2012-13.
In the game, SCSU outshot the Seawolves 33-22 including an impressive 16-2 effort in the third period by the Huskies. On the power play, SCSU was 0-of-4 and UAA was 0-of-3.
In the nets, SCSU's Ryan Faragher was the goalie of record for the Huskies with 19 saves. Chris Kamal added the victory for UAA with 32 saves to his credit.
