Volleyball Loses Battle to MSU Moorhead, 1-3

St. Cloud, Minn. -- The St. Cloud State University volleyball team took on an evenly matched MSU Moorhead team this afternoon in Halenbeck Hall. The Huskies had a late fourth-set comeback, but it wasn't enough to overpower the Dragons of MSU Moorhead. St. Cloud State fell 1-3 with set scores of 24-26, 25-16, 17-25, and 26-28.Â
The Huskies fall to 12-7 overall this season, and are now 6-5 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). MSU Moorhead improves to 12-7 overall, 5-6 in the NSIC.Â
St. Cloud State's middle hitters came to play this afternoon. Sophomore middle hitter Kellan Flynn (Tomahawk, Wis.) led all players with a season-high 17 kills. Flynn finished the match with a .429 attack percentage and added five blocks.Â
Senior middle hitter Ellie Dietzen (Black Creek, Wis.) had 11 kills in the match. Dietzen posted a .276 attack percentage and contributed eight blocks.Â
Dani Domeier (Norwood Young America) sparked the Huskies in their fourth-set battle. Domeier had six kills in the final ten plays of the game to keep the Huskies alive before finally falling 26-28. She clinched her sixth double-double of the season as she tallied 13 kills and 15 digs.Â
Erin Ohlemann (Golden Valley) dug her way into her second double-double of the weekend. Ohlemann finished with 45 assists and 17 digs this evening.Â
Brianne Stamer (Hutchinson) collected a season-high 32 digs. Allison Butler (Burnsville) finished with 15 and Shannon Klink (Hartford, Wis.) added 13.Â
Kaitlin VanWinkle led all players for MSU Moorhead with 16 kills, hitting a .234 attack percentage.Â
St. Cloud State will return to action this Tuesday, Oct. 22 as they host no. 2 Minnesota Duluth in Halenbeck Hall at 7 p.m. The Bulldogs are coming off their first home loss of this season to Northern State in four sets.Â
