SCSU Volleyball Tops Winona State, 3-1

St. Cloud, Minn. -- The St. Cloud State University volleyball team came ready to play. The Huskies took down the Warriors of Winona State in a quick 26-16 first set. The Warriors battled back, but couldn't match the Huskies play as St. Cloud State took the match 3-1 with final scores of 25-16, 25-23, 23-25, and 25-21.Â
St. Cloud State improves to 9-5 overall, 3-3 in the NSIC. The Warriors fall to 5-10 overall, 2-4 in conference action.Â
Three Husky players finished with double-digit kill totals. Ellie Dietzen (Black Creek, Wis.) led all players with 14 kills and a .500 attack percentage. She also added a team-high six blocks. Dietzen is just six kills away from her 800th career kill.Â
Outside hitter Kaitlin Doughty (Tomahawk, Wis.) finished with 13 kills on the night. Allison Butler (Burnsville) recorded her first double-double of the season as she tallied ten kills and 15 digs.Â
Erin Ohlemann (Golden Valley) finished with 42 assists, nine kills and two service aces. Brianne Stamer (Hutchinson) had a team-high 18 digs.Â
Katie Froehle led all players for the Warriors with 15 kills and 15 digs.Â
The Huskies will return to action tomorrow afternoon as they take on Upper Iowa University at 4 p.m. in Halenbeck Hall. The Peacocks are coming off a 0-3 loss to Minnesota Duluth. They hold a 6-9 overall mark, 2-4 in the NSIC.Â
