SCSU Women's Soccer Falls to #1 Ranked Minnesota State

St. Cloud, Minn. ---- St. Cloud State Women's soccer team (4-11-1, 3-9-1 NSIC) fell short to #1 ranked Minnesota State (16-0-0, 13-0-0 NSIC) in Sunday's match up.

Mankato opened the games offense with a goal by Rebecca Pederson at the 20:18 mark of the first half. Pederson came back in the second half when she headed the ball past SCSU goalie, Kenzie Kanzlik, off of a corner kick by Emily Morris, to get her second goal of the game. Mankato scored late in the game after, Morris tallied her second assist, taking the lead 3-0.

The Huskies defense was strong, only allowing 3 goals on a team who has scored over 50 goals this season. Senior goalie Kenzie Hanzlik stood strong between the pipes, facing 29 shot attempts with 12 shots recorded on net. With this loss Hanzlik moves her record to 2-6-1 on the 2014-15 season.

Huskies will play the final home game of the season on Friday, Oct. 31 in an NSIC game against the University of Minnesota – Crookston. The Huskies travel to Bemidji on Sunday Nov. 2 to play the Beavers for the final NSIC game of the season.
