The Mustangs scored three goals in the first 13 minutes of the contest to gain control with markers by Kendahl Fisher, Miranda Cadena and Alex Pantze. The Huskies broke the shutout in the closing minutes of the first half with a goal by Ally Herod. Her goal was assisted on a corner kick from Faith Bila that set up the play.
In the second half, SMSU pushed its lead to 4-1 with a second goal by Cadena, while Amanda Hartmann ended the scoring with a Mustang goal at 77:44.
In the contest, SCSU was outshot 20-10 by the Mustangs. Senior netminder Kenzie Hanzlik had 10 saves in the game, while SMSU goalie Brienna Dehkes made four saves in the game.
The Huskies will continue their 2014 campaign with a NSIC contest at Husky Stadium against the University of Sioux Falls at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5. Tickets for this game are available at the gate. All SCSU students get into the game for FREE. Just show your valid SCSU student ID card at the gate and you will be admitted FREE to the game.
