Grand Forks, ND—The University of North Dakota (7-7-2, 6-6-2 WCHA) take their second victory of the weekend over the St. Cloud State Huskies (5-11-1, 2-7-1 WCHA) on Nov. 30, at the Ralph Engelstad Arena
North Dakota put up the first goal of the game at 11:06 in the first period. The goal came 10 seconds into a 5-on-3 that UND was awarded after Anderson and Makaric went to the box. UND pulled ahead in the second period when Becca Kohler was able to find the back of the net on a rebound.
SCSU closed the lead when given a powerplay opportunity in the second period. Alex Makaric passed it D-to-D to Brittney Anderson, who sent the puck to the net, where forward Vanessa Spataro was able to get a stick on it and tipped it passed UND's goalie. This was Spataro's second goal of the 2014-15 season.
North Dakota waited until just over half way into the third period to respond, when they expended their lead and scored the final goal of the game to make it a 3-1 loss for St. Cloud.
Katie Fitzgerald stood between the pipes for the 7th time this year. She faced 34 shots in 60 minutes of play and moves her record to 1-5-1, 0-4-0 WCHA.
The Huskies return to the ice on Dec. 5, at the Ridder Arena, for a series against the University of Minnesota Gophers.
