Men's basketball handles Bemidji State, 88-65 in NSIC action

Bemidji, Minn. – St. Cloud State led from start to finish in an 88-65 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) men's basketball win over Bemidji State Friday night in Bemidji.
St. Cloud State improved to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the NSIC. Bemidji State suffered its first loss of the season and is 5-1 overall and 1-1 in NSIC play.
Five Huskies scored in double figures, including three starters, led by sophomore guard Scottie Stone (Melrose). Stone scored 15 points on five of nine shooting from the field, two of three from three point range and three of four from the free throw line.
Senior center James Fort (South Haven) lead all players with nine rebounds and scored 13 points. He continued to shoot well, making five of six field goal attempts and three of four free throws in the game.
Huskies Tip-Ins
Starters Kevin Levandoski (Sr., G, Appleton, Wis.), Jordan Poydras (Jr., G, Los Angeles, Calif.), and Fort scored in double figures.
Levandoski finished the game with 11 points. Poydras scored 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
For the second straight game, first-year forward Jon Averkamp (Germantown, Wis.) scored ten points and tallied seven rebounds.
The Huskies scored 25 points off of turnovers and the bench accounted for 38 points. St. Cloud State forced Bemidji State into 20 turnovers and out-rebounded the Beavers 38-27.
The Huskies built an early lead to take a 43-28 into halftime. St. Cloud State shot 45 percent from the field and 47 percent from three-point range in the game.
Bemidji State notes
The Beavers were led in scoring by DJ Anderson and Dillon Floyd. Anderson scored 15 points including seven from the free throw line while Floyd dropped in 13 points.
Ben Best and Shane White each had six rebounds.
The Beavers shot 43.4 percent from the field but only made two of 19 three-point attempts. BSU was 70.8 percent from the free throw line.
