Huskies Travel to Rival Minnesota State, Feb. 7-8

St. Cloud, Minn. - St. Cloud State women's hockey is back on the road for their final regular season WCHA road series Feb. 7-8 as they take on rival Minnesota State University, Mankato. Game times are set for 7:07 p.m. and 3:07 p.m. respectively from All Seasons Arena.Â
THE RECORD: The Huskies hold a 4-23-3 overall record and a 3-19-2-1 record good for 12 points in the ever-grueling WCHA coming into their series against Minnesota State. St. Cloud and Mankato are currently tied for seventh place in the WCHA rankings going into their series together.
LAST TIME OUT: The Huskies were back in the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center this past weekend as they hosted the Ohio State University Buckeyes. Ohio State earned the series sweep over the Huskies as they won 4-1 Friday and 6-1 on Saturday. Friday night, the Huskies were trailing early in the first but battled back to tie the game up 1-1 at the 16:28 mark as senior Molli Mott stuck one in the back of the net. Assisting Mott on her 11th goal of the season was freshman Alexandra Makaric and senior Julia Gilbert. The Huskies played well in the third to outshoot the Buckeyes 15-8 but could not get any shots past their goalie as they fell, 4-1. On Saturday, it was the Huskies getting things going late in the first period at the 19:29 mark as freshman Payge Pena laid out to put the puck in the back of the net for a 1-0 lead over Ohio State. Assisting Pena on the goal was freshman Lauren Hespenheide and senior Michelle Burke. This was Pena's third goal of the season. St. Cloud outshot the Buckeyes in two of the three periods Saturday by a margin of 20-14. Starting in goal for St. Cloud and goalie of record Friday night was junior Julie Friend recording 27 saves, moving her record to 3-14-2 on the season. Playing between the pipes on Saturday was sophomore Katie Fitzgerald recording 20 saves and seeing her record move to 1-9-1 on the season.

2013-14: 9-19-0, 4-18-0 WCHA
All-Time Series: Looking into the weekend at the Huskies match-up against Minnesota State, SCSU leads the all-time series holding a 29-28-6 record. The all-time series dates back to Nov. 21, 1998.
Ranking: Minnesota State is currently tied in the WCHA ranking for seventh place with St. Cloud, as each team holds 12 points. In national polls Minnesota State is not ranked.
Mavericks' Leaders: MSU is led in scoring by seniors Nicole Germaine and Kari Lundberg as they each have 19 points. Germaine and Lundberg have both recorded eight goals and 11 assists so far on the season. The Mavericks leading goalie is senior Danielle Butters as she holds a 6-17-0 record on the season. Butters has compiled a .951 save percentage as well as a 3.09 goals against average. She has posted 1357:29 minutes of play in 23 games.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS: The last time the teams met was earlier this season in St. Cloud on Dec. 6-7 where the teams split the WCHA series. St. Cloud prevailed in game one with a dominant 6-2 victory, while Mankato took game two by a final score of 3-1. During the 2012-13 season, the Huskies went 2-1-1 against the Mavericks. With the teams tied in the conference standings, the number seven spot is up for grabs and the Huskies are looking to take it for themselves.
