Huskies open NSIC schedule with 3-0 loss at UMD

Duluth, Minn. - The St. Cloud State University soccer team (1-3, 0-1 NSIC) opened its 2014 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference season with a 3-0 loss at Minnesota Duluth (1-3, 1-0 NSIC) on Sunday, Sept. 14 in Duluth, Minn.
The Bulldogs opened with the eventual game-winner at 1:17 on a goal by Maureen Stormont. UMD pushed its lead to 2-0 with another goal by Stormont at 18:50, and the Bulldogs ended the day's scoring with a goal at 37:35 by Riley Allen.
In the contest, UMD outshot the Huskies 31-13 as sophomore goalkeeper Brittany Plombon charted 12 saves in the game for SCSU. Marissa Rosa chalked up four saves in the shutout for UMD.
HUSKIES HIGHLIGHTS:
* Brittany Plombon played shutout soccer in the second half of the match at UMD on Sept. 14. In the game, Plombon carded a season-high 12 saves for the Huskies. Plombon has 30 saves after four games for the Huskies this season.
* Taige Thoreson led the Huskies with four shots in the game at UMD. On the season, Thoreson paces the Huskies with 10 shots after four games played.
* The Huskies will continue their 2014 NSIC schedule with a 1 p.m. date at Northern State University on Sept. 20. SCSU will complete its western swing in the NSIC with a 1 p.m. match at Minnesota State, Moorehad on Sept. 21.
