St. Cloud State men's hockey to face CC on Jan. 30-31

The St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (10-13-1, 5-8-1-0 NCHC) will continue its 2014-15 season with a pair of conference games at Colorado College (5-16-1, 1-11-1 NCCH) on Jan. 30-31. The games will be played at the World Arena (7,380 cap./200x100). The action will get underway on Jan. 30 at 8:37 p.m. (CT), while the pucks drops on Jan. 31 at 8:07 p.m. (CT) Fans can listen to these games on KCML FM 99.9 (www.lite999.com)...fans can watch the live video stream of this game on NCHC.tv/scsu

WMU SPLIT: Last weekend the Huskies scored a 7-0 win over Western Michigan on Jan. 23. SCSU completed the weekend series at home on Jan. 24 with a tough 3-2 loss against WMU. The Huskies now own a 10-13-1, 5-8-1 NCHC record this season.
LUCKY SEVEN: The seven goals scored against WMU on Jan. 23, marked a season game-high for the Huskies and it was also SCSU's first shutout of the season. The last time SCSU scored seven or more goals in a game was its 7-4 win at Colorado College on March 7, 2014. The last time the Huskies tallied seven or more goals in a game played at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center was an 8-3 win over Alabama Huntsville on Oct. 19, 2012.

HOBEY WATCH: 2015 Hobey Baker candidate Jonny Brodzinski paces the Huskies this season with 22 points, 13 goals and seven power play goals. Brodzinski continues his march toward the 100-point club and now has charted 96 points in his collegiate career. In three seasons at SCSU, Brodzinski has notched 56 goals and 40 assists. He is tied for 10th in the team's career records for most goals along with Ryan Malone, who also had 56 goals from 1999-03.
STRONG START: SCSU freshman forward Patrick Russell continues to impress during his rookie campaign with the Huskies. Russell added two goals and two assists in the weekend series against WMU. On the year, Russell has scored six goals and 11 assists. His three points (1g/2a) in the game on Jan. 23 was a career game-high.
POINT MAN: Junior forward Kalle Kossila scored one goal and two assists in the weekend series against WMU. On the season, Kossila now has three goals and 12 assists. His three-year career totals continue to move forward with 31 goals and 57 assists for a total of 88 points.
MR. ZERO: Sophomore netminder Charlie Lindgren gained the second shutout of his career with his 7-0 victory over WMU on Jan. 23. Lindgren had 23 saves in the shutout victory for the Huskies. This was SCSU's first shutout of the season and it was the Huskies' first shutout since a 4-0 win by Ryan Faragher at Miami on Feb. 22, 2014. This was also the first shutout for the Huskies at home since a 4-0 win over Alabama Huntsville on Oct. 19, 2012. Lindgren owns a .911 save rate this winter along with a 2.53 goals against average for the Huskies.
UP NEXT: The Huskies will enjoy a bye week on Feb. 6-7 before returning to action in the always rugged NCHC on Feb. 13-14 at Minnesota Duluth. A FEW MORE NOTES AND NEWS: Joey Benik (4a), Kalle Kossila (1g/1a), David Morley (2g), Jonny Brodzinski (1g/1a), Joe Rehkamp (1g/1a) and Patrick Russell (1g/2a) all had multi-point games in the Huskies' 7-0 victory over WMU on Jan. 23...the Huskies are 0-11-1 when they score two or less goals in a game this season and they are 10-2-0 when they scored three or more goals in a game this season.
